I found this thread looking for "green poop".
My Barred rock hen was acting normal yesterday, but her bottom was covered in green poop, and her comb was gone. (separate incident)?
Anyway, I checked on her today and she has died.
No idea of cause, she was definitely eating normally.

I bought a box of those (The LARGE box that Lowes sells)
There were over 20 left in the box when I caught the neighbors dog in our garage.
He had eaten the entire box of poison!
This was several months ago, and the dog is doing just fine. He never had any ill effects. (other than...
Lots of people I've talked to seem to be getting less eggs the last couple of months.
I have no idea why. It doesn't seem to be limited by breed or location.
I bought a bunch of chicks in March, then another hatch a few weeks ago, so I got rid of most of my older flock and only kept four...
Very odd indeed...
My brahmas quit for almost three weeks, then I got four eggs the next week, and this week I haven't gotten a thing!
That's a total of four eggs in five weeks from four hens.
My new hatch of silkies should be laying next month, then the rocks should start in january.
Well, i was going to get the barred rocks and then I got to looking at the wyandottes. I may get both or I may get something different.
I'm wanting something pretty to look at, a good layer, and a standard size.
My favorite rooster is the buff orp. He's gentile and beautiful.
The hens are...
So far I have buff orpington, light brahma, and silkie.
I'm looking to add more now and considering barred rock and wyandotte.
Any suggestions?
And if you have a preference, is there a preferred hatchery as well?

No, he's not big at all. Just a trick of the camera.
That's a child holding the chick close to the camera.
He's average size for a 4 month old silkie.
I bought a dozen "Pure Bred" day old White silkies back in March.
Now I'm wondering what my "Pure" silkie may be.... Do you think he's mixed with another breed?
All the others are solid white.
Sorry for the pics - took them with my cell phone.
I'll try to get better pics tomorrow.
Our 2 year old Silkie hen ran for the leftovers when my wife threw them out.
Actually, all the chickens came running, but our little silkie decided to go for the 2 tablespoons of mashed potatoes.
For some reason, she wasn't able to get them down and couldn't breathe.
We tried clearing things...
Our Buff Orpington who has ruled the roost since we got chickens was attacked yesterday by our Brahma/Silkie Cross Roo.
I got to them about 10 minutes after the fight started and the Orp was torn up pretty bad.
I put the other roo in a separate enclosure, but today the buff won't socialize...
I have a Buff orpington (Pure breed) that mated with a white silkie (pure breed) and the result was a buff roo with black tail feathers.
I do have Light Brahma's, so I was wondering if somehow both roo's contributed, or if the black tail feathers was a gene past down from way back?
Looking to buy or trade eggs (preferably trade).
Interested in Silkies (White & Splash) and Orpingtons (Lavender & BBS)
If you have any of the above at a reasonable price, please let me know.
If you are willing to trade, I have Buff Orpington, White Silkie , and Light Brahma.
During the...
Tired of dumping ice and refilling water several times a day, I finally bought a one & a half gallon heated water bowl.
I went out later that day after we got 6 inches of snow to see if the chickens were getting some warm water....NOPE!
Our Buff Orp Rooster decided that it isn't a waterer, but...
