Help! I have two roosters. They are young born in end of march... They are too aggressive right now with the girls, which there are 24... One if my hens has a bloody neck. I have separated her today and kept her with another hen. Any thoughts on my Roos??? Also my stupid lol family was in...
Some of my white silkies have started crowing. I have at least three Roos maybe more. I can't keep that many soooo if anyone is in the New Durham, NH area and wants a silkie roo let me know. Djgiffordrn at aol dot com. I just got them last spring at TSC so they aren't super pretty
I got my ducks last evening and had two eggs for me this morning. I was told two drakes two ducks. Only one of the drakes has a dark head though. Both drakes have lighter feet.
I am getting two KC ducks and drakes tomorrow. Do they need a separate housing from the chickens?? I have a kiddie pool etc and they can have their own horse stall... Do they need to be fenced in though??
I got all my chicks at our local TSC... the "mixed run bantams" ended up being white silkies... all with 5 toes... some fluffier than others...
The "red" pullets, are red/buff in color... and 8 are dark chocolate brown... trying to figure out what the brown actually are... LOL
My red pullet gang. Anyone know what they are? LOL. The buff color ones are buff and light reddish. The brown have brown with another shade or two of brown on them, lol.
I was thinking of adding some sand to an area of the outdoor pen... inside is pine shavings and the bottom is dirt...
I hope it is okay to keep the different breeds together (I noticed some of you separate yours)... the hens (only 1 or 2 of the 3) will occasionally peck at one of the silkies...
Good morning...trying to catch up with all the posts... I have 11 white silkies... over a month old... I am of course hoping they are not all roos... I am thinking two for sure... bigger area on head etc.
I also have 3 NHR hens just under a year old... and 14 mixed red pullets that so far seem...
The girls are in their own area... then going to separate them with chicken wire til they get used to the little ones... they are super sweet though so I am not anticipating a problem...
Good morning... is it safe to assume that this is a silkie?? Some of the 11 I got, do have more feathering on the feet... it was a free run bantam chick choice.... also, someone told me that bantams are mean... is that true? Someone else said they were not mean, lol...
Welcome to the addiction... I am new too... I have a three stall barn, and converted one of the stalls into the coop for the chickens... this one is the one without the sliding door to the outside, so not really good for a horse, lol... I am still working on the outdoor area and will hopefully...
Thanks everyone,
The three young ladies I picked up yesterday are NHRs and super sweet... will be one year old in June. I let them free range while I worked on the outside coop area... they are friendly and interactive and fun, lol. I will work on the indoor coop, setting up the chicken wire...
I am from New Hampshire... I have 11 Bantam free run chicks that are looking to be silkies? Their feathers are getting fluffy... we shall see... have 13 red pullets, that seem to be 8 brown and 5 light yellowish... their feathers are coming in nicely. The silkies are pretty so far, if that is...
