    Thank you

Hey Everyone, just wanted to give out a huge thank you to everyone that has been helping me along with my chicken hatching journey. These are the 3 that made it so far. the brown and black ones were stuck in their eggs due to low humidity, and the yellow one got kicked out of his egg and mom...

    Coco is Limping.... any ideas?

Hey everyone, Here is the update with Coco. Thanks everyone so much for your fantastic advice. Her legs, as you can see are significantly improved, and we have started treating other chickens in the coop as well just in case. We're also gutting the coop May 25th, spraying eucalyptus and...

    Coco is Limping.... any ideas?

Mmmm. Thats good information to keep in mind Jak. I've been watching the other chickens feet now closely too. I think there's a possibility that Sergeant our rooster might have them, but I'm just not sure. I'm very excited that she's getting better at least. Hopefully your hen does too. It's...

    Coco is Limping.... any ideas?

So, here we are on day 3 and a half of treatment. I think her feet are getting better? Today is the first time I saw her actually stand flat on both feet, so I took a picture of it :) Her legs are quite pink though, not sure if thats a good thing, or if its the new 'scales/skin' coming out. I...

Having no luck :( *A few possibly graphic pictures*

Sigh. So the egg was fine last night. Now, nothing. No movement, now vessels, no feathers, just liquid. I don't understand what's happening. The humidity has been at about 60-65 for the past 3 days. And his heat was 37.5, but I increased to 39 cause I heard that's what you're supposed to...

    Coco is Limping.... any ideas?

So here is the start of Day 2. Not sure if there's a whole lot of improvement, but I like to think there is. I'm all about being optimistic :)

    Coco is Limping.... any ideas?

All righty! Day one! Dip Complete and Coco will hang out in my office for the rest of the week. I'm going to dip her 2ce a day (a bit of over kill, but whatever works) and will post pictures on her progress. :) This saturday: we're gutting the chicken coop and cleaning it out properly for...

    Coco is Limping.... any ideas?

Hey guys, After the amazing response from BYC folks about what I'm doing wrong with my eggs, I thought I would post a picture of Coco, one of the hens at the place I work at. About 2 weeks ago she started limping off and on, we thought maybe someone else had stepped on her. But when I went in...

Having no luck :( *A few possibly graphic pictures*

Okee Doke. So.. The picture quality is awful. I really wish iphones or even cameras for that matter would take pictures the way we see them. But I tried to show how in A11, the blood vessels are pulling away from the pointy end of the egg. The last couple pictures are of the air pocket...

Having no luck :( *A few possibly graphic pictures*

I put the one egg that I think has passed in April 9, same day it was laid. The other was put in April 11, same idea. Same day it was laid. There's clear liquid rolling around and mixing with dark liquid in the A9 egg, sounds awful: but it reminds me of when rain drops rush into a murky puddle...

Having no luck :( *A few possibly graphic pictures*

Ok. so! I was in a rush yesterday to make it to the comic expo, so didn't have time to post. But! When I checked them yesterday morning, the humidity was holding at about 60%, one egg was at 37.9 (the one that laid April 11) and when I candled it, there was movement, so I put him RIGHT back...

My humidity is at 55-60% !!! And the eggs are up to 36.5 ! They're going in the right direction :) Is it okay to have both eggs in "lockdown" like that? even though one is supposed to hatch monday/tuesday and the other wednesday/thursday?

Having no luck :( *A few possibly graphic pictures*

So I set it up about 30 minutes ago and the temperature is up to 34, which is far higher than I'm sitting at in my bundled sweater and 16. my humidity is also up to 35, so thats exceptionally better then when I started. The top of the aquarium is glass? glass or plastic? I'm not sure. I had...

Sigh. I posted a big reply and just lost it all. To sum it all up, Thanks Lizanne. That article is quite detailed. And! I'm so frustrated. :( I took the eggs home to see if I could hatch them, with no knowledge whatsoever and not thinking they would really hatch, to suddenly becoming very...

Okay. So... that right there is literally what it looks like. I used to have them in a little plastic tub, about 8" x 7", and the lamp sat above them, and I had filled the bottom of the tub with about an inch of water to let it soak into the hand towels they were sitting on. But I stopped all of...

Having no luck :( *A few possibly graphic pictures*

I will for sure as soon as I get home. Its literally a big rubbermaid tub with a screen on top to keep the heat lamp at the right distance to keep them around the 37.5 range. The two eggs are sitting on some hand towels on top of a box lid that keeps them closer to the lamp (without the box lid...

Hey everyone! I'm brand new to this egg hatching thing and never thought in a million years I would be trying to hatch eggs in my basement in the bustling city of Edmonton. But, after a 7 month winter and having NO broody chickens, I thought "why not". Well. It hasn't gone so well to be...
