I noticed this hanging from my Roo this morning. I couldn't get close enough to grab him before I left for work, but I was able to take a couple pics and zoom in.
Is this a worm? If so, what do I do ?
Thanks for the help,

This baby chick was born 3/20. The last one to hatch and flipped around the incubator. On day one it still want using its feet. Day two and three we tried the bandaid method to treat spraddle leg and had no luck. It gets to its food and water by walking on its hocks, which now have calluses...
I ordered 25 purebred bantams from cackle and don't know what these are. 2 weeks old so to early for gender, right? But what breed are they?
I appreciate all the help
Can someone help? I will be bringing home a mini saanen Doe in milk with her 9 week old doeling and an 8 week old wether on Saturday.
I will be buying everything I need from Tractor Supply this week. I have read lots of books, done lots of research, etc., but still have questions regarding...
My just posting this to get out some of my frustrations and hope for some advice and encouragement.
My 11 hens (ages 1-2 years old) aren't laying at all like they should and the ones that are don't lay in the coop....it's an Easter egg hunt every day around my yard. I get 3 eggs in the coop...
The aggressive hen idea came from "CuteChick369" who posted before you, so I was responding to that suggestion.
I will keep a watchful eye on them to see if there's any bullying or random picking and hope to catch the culprit.
I can't imagine it's an aggressive hen, the silver laced wyandotte is on the top of the pecking order. I got half my hens in april 2013 and the other half in May 2014. The two groups basically stay with their own. The wyandotte is from the 2013 group and the buff orpington is from the 2014...
2 of my hens have feather loss on their lower back. At first i thought it was molting and then maybe the roosters being too rough when doing the deed...but ive secluded the roosters for a couple weeks and theres on improvement. In fact a third hen is starting to lose her feathers there as...

Thank you for updating this thread. Please continue to do so as I am educating myself about goats and will someday soon be a goat owner as well.
I love learning through other peoples experiences and challenges.
Good luck and please keep us posted on how everything is going!

Thank you all for your help. Unfortunately, he passed away today.
It happened so quickly. I notice him acting strange a week ago and then today he's gone.
He has no lumps or bumps on his chest. Skin and bones. His head's looking a bit funky though. Is there a chicken disease that includes head fungus?
He has a foul odor, almost like rot, and he's losing feathers there as well.
I just had to google " crop emptying properly " because I've never heard of that. I'll have to check when I get home from work.
He's barely eating / drinking. Poop is dark green.
I don't know how old he is because I got him last year from a farmer. But I have a silkie roo who is not doing good and I thought yesterday was going to be it.
For about a week he has not been hanging around his girlfriend. He would be standing there and his head would drop as if he's...
I bought a bantam silkie last summer. I was told that she would start laying in the spring. She's never layed an egg. She goes into the nesting box every day for quite a while, but doesn't lay an egg. Then she squawks when she comes out like my other layers do as if she's announcing she's...
My 6 month old hen went broody and has started laying on a bunch of eggs that have no chance of hatching.
I have 25 baby chicks coming from TSC later this week...can I switch the eggs with the babies? Has anyone successfully done that? Is 25 too much to ask of her to take care of?
