    Single chick vaccination

Hi everyone, Hatched a lovely Silver Ameracauna last week, just one though. Now we need to vaccinate, but don't want to buy for just one chick and then throw away all the leftover vaccine. If anyone near Sonoma County, CA is vaccinating soon I would be willing to assist and contribute $ to...

No. Calif. Chickenstock June 5, Kelseyville! memories and pics, p. 42+

Hi Sunny, The chicks are doing well. They are getting along like three boisterous teenagers. Still not sure of genders of the two blacks. Time will tell. They are mostly kept separated from the flock for now, but I do let them all free range together on occasion. I'll integrate everyone...

    Host a BYC Traveling Mascot!

Re: arms; thanks, the better to hug Orp with. Re: Listerine; they say that pigs are quite clean actually, but i guess it depends on what they've been into. personally I wouldn't kiss 'em unless they were properly cooked and seasoned. I bet that photo haunts that poor kid the rest of his life.

Scoop into my mouth leaving the shell behind, and chase with a gulp of tea...

    Hens attacking each other...

They have a very small brain, no telling what they're thinking, or if they even are. Seems to me that hens are mainly motivated by food. The rooster, well... you know his motivation. Could be he gets them all over excited and they do things they wouldn't ordinarily do, such as try to be a...

proof times are tough.... very very sad.

A power company kills a living being over $$$ he can't pay for energy he must have to survive. CRIMINAL!!! Will they eventually do the same to us all when Saudi Arabia and China finally get all our money and won't loan it back to us? If our lives depend on having power, then maybe it...

weekend problems - chicken picked bald and egg eating

I hate egg eaters; feels like they are shortchanging me. I remedied my situation by employing several tactics. First I tried improving their diet. Next was enlarging the nestbox, adding fluff, and making it darker inside. Last add plastic easter eggs as decoys. I snickered everytime I caught...

Ok to eat a turkey that had Bumblefoot?

Thank you everybody, The turkey was delicious. I brined it overnight and BBQd with an indirect wood fire. Best turkey I've ever tasted; moist and tender and smoky, yum yummy. Thanks to you all, I didn't have that nagging doubt about safety whilst having dinner.

I finally did 'em in,(regrettably),noticed a sore on the bottom of the feet, one worse than the other, but nothing severe. Found out from my girlfriend (who's a newly minted chicken fanatic), that it's probably something called " Bumblefoot". Bird is soaking in the brine now, Was planning on...
