Hard Boiling Chicken Eggs

Quote:
Hi,

Before I tried the method in the thread I posted, I tried heavily salting the water. I'm sure it has worked for others, but I was still struggling with the eggs. They didn't peel well at all. But that's just me, it might work for you because your water is different or some other reason. Just thought I'd mention it. Genie

I cut the boiled egg in half with a sharp knife, salt and pepper the edibles, insert a large spoon into the egg as close to the shell as possible, then rotate the halved egg so the spoon separates the egg from the shell. Scoop into my mouth leaving the shell behind, and chase with a gulp of tea or whiskey, its not bad.

I boiled several FRESH out of the nest boxes eggs. So far my findings are:

One fresh egg I boiled in just water and nothing else. I tried boiling eggs in salted water and vinegar in water. One egg I pricked a hole in the big end of the egg and put it in hot tap water.

All but the egg boiled in the water with vinegar in it, peeled well as long as I ran some cold tap water over them to initially cool them off then put them in some ice water with plenty of ice and let them set for awhile, 10-15 minutes.
