The Hawk is definitely smaller than I imagined it would be, sorry I am not very good at describing size :( . I would say an average owl would be bigger than this bird. Thank you everyone for your replies.

This is our first egg layed (Aug. 17) by one of our Barred Rock Hens. She was exactly 20 weeks old! They started out tiny but are of great size now. The number of eggs slowly increased and now we are averaging 8-10 eggs a day from 12 possible layers. They mostly took to the nesting boxes...

Sorry for the bad picture quality, but I was so nervous when I saw him on the fence right next to our coop that I was shaking. We have not had Hawk issues before (have been free ranging since spring) but since this picture, all of a sudden, have noticed more hovering/ circling above...and a few...

Thank you for your answers! The first thought that went through my head when I was hearing the "crow" for the first time was is that a dying Elephant? (lol). His crow hasn't improved much, but - when I hear the other one crow, it sounds more traditional. hehe

Hi. So, out of 10 Barred Rock Roosters and 1 Polish Rooster...one of them started crowing (approx at 9 weeks). It is the Polish! It sounds like an elephant dying,but I kind of like it. Anyway....my question is, is this normal for the underdog, singleton of the group to be the one who takes...

We received 5 of these type of chicks in our McMurrary Assorted brown egg layers batch so I would really like to figure out what breed it is??? Would appreciate your thoughts and experience. The pictured chick is about a week old. Thank you!
