My girls hid under the fruit trees. Last time the wind was this bad, it blew my EE across the yard. It was scary but kind of funny too the way she screeched as she was "flying."
It's way up in her vent where I can't reach it. this morning she was more vocal with some spunk but there was blood in her vent. She's not crying out in pain. I don't know what to do. She's still in a warm crate in my bedroom just sitting there looking around.
I cut off a lot of it. No blood, puss or foul smell. It looks just like baked chicken. While trying to get up into her vent without cutting the wrong thing, she sucked the remaining piece back up and I can't get to it. I'm really concerned about that piece still inside her. She's still able to...
I'm not brave but she needs help. I'll try both cutting it out along with the soak and scrub. Thanks so much. I'm getting queasy just thinking about it. I'll keep you posted.
I've bathed her butt and lubed her vent. She's trying to push but it is still stuck in there. She's not eating or drinking. I'll keep trying. Thank you so much for the links. Here's a picture. No puss and she's still pooping. Any other advice is welcome.
Thank you for the tip Kathy. I can see into her vent a little. It's very red and what looks and feels like cooked chicken meat goes up inside. I can't see further up but it seems to be attached to her. I can't keep her still to get a better picture. Hopefully someone has encountered this before...
Listless Silkie hen has what looks like cooked chicken hanging out of her vent. She is listless and not eating or drinking. I attempted to gently remove the object but it appears to be attached to her insides and is causing her great pain. She is now in a dog crate separated from the other hens...
Hi. My easter egger has been laying for a month and a half, then suddenly stopped and then nothing for three weeks. She's still gobbling down food and calcium. There's no lumps I can feel that would indicate egg binding. I thought it was the weather but one of my silkies just started laying. I'm...
Hi everyone! I'm having an issue with my 22 week old black star hen that just started laying a week ago. Since she's started laying she's become extremely loud, to the point that I'm worried about neighbors complaining. Her eggs are fine and vent is clean but she's only quiet when sleeping...
Mine too. Even on non laying days she still messes around the nest box. In fact my black star is about to start laying but my easter egger runs to the nest boxes and jumps in every time the black star goes in there. Is Lotus doing the same thing?
It is funny! I call it Mint green but my son says blue. :-) she has laid three eggs since Sunday. I was hoping for daily eggs but it could be the heat.
