Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Yeah! Lucky! ;)
Lotus has not laid since the first and second day. Crossing my fingers for an egg today!
She looked like she was gunna lay before bed- she kept going in the nesting box but she ended up not doing anything.
Mine too. Even on non laying days she still messes around the nest box. In fact my black star is about to start laying but my easter egger runs to the nest boxes and jumps in every time the black star goes in there. Is Lotus doing the same thing?

Hmm, she messes around in the nesting box but never goes in when another is. She backs off if someone else wants in. O:

Congratulations! Those blue eggs are really pretty.
Thanks! :) They're like a greeny/blue O: It's very interesting.

Trying to figure out how to tell when my EE pullets will be ready to lay..... Will the combs get big like my RSL or stay small and just get red. I have an EE roo and don't expect them to do the squat for me, like my older girls. They are about 20 wks old. Hoping to add some more color to our egg basket soon.

Besides the comb turning red, the skin around the eyes also gets red at point of lay. I use the red eyes more of my "any day now" indicator than the reddening of the comb.

What is this "squat" everyone talks about? My silly Gold Sebright, for the past two days has been crawling under my poor crossbeaked EE Rooster, and just sort of sitting there down on the ground under his belly with her wings fluffed out. Is this the "squat?"

Sorry for the silly question. We always had chickens when I was a kid but I never really paid much attention to them except to make sure our angry old RIR rooster wasn't lurking just behind me ready to strike.

Edit:::

Just looked it up. And, yeah, that's what she's doing. For the past month or so both Sebrights have been doing that when I'd pet them and scratch their backs. I guess the little Gold one is really wanting some attention. lol!

My EE started laying about 24 weeks. She started squatting for me maybe 3 days prior. Her comb and eyes were red for a good month before that.
