I am getting ready to build my open air coop (completely open at both ends (during the summer). Should I face the open ends east-west or north-south? Thank you in advance you wise chicken lovers
We have tons of wild turkeys out here in Western North Carolina. Are there specific breeds that they are most likely to be? If I wanted to introduce turkeys to my 300 acres, what would be the best breed?
I have wisteria vines all over the place. They are worse than kudzu around my place because you can eat them or anything. Anyway, does anybody know if they are toxic to chicken (or anyone else). Should I be vigilient in cutting them ( a nitemare) or let the chicken have at them?
Has anyone used some of the chicken coop plans available on-line? I was particularly looking at the DIY one advertized on the forum website

I am getting my first set of day olds in a couple of weeks. 6 standards. If I want a brooder that would be large enough to take them to the age when they can go out into the coop, how large should it be? Thank you
OMG after months, I finally ordered 3 astralopes and 3 RIR from my pet chicken due June 15. I have blue prints for a coop which my partner is going to build. OK, so the H in DH is husband, what does the D stand for? I see the same thing on the goat group I am on. I am so out of the loop........

I pretty much decided that I was going to get about 6 chicks in the spring for eggs and as pets. I have done my research on-line and purchased Storey's Gude to Raising Chickens, which now has me wondering if this is what I want. From her book, I am gathering that hens only lay good the first...
