coop bedding- what do you prefer??

We use sand. I scoop it out twice a day, and it takes about 3 minutes tops. I just installed a poop board, and I think that will cut down my time to about 1 minute. Whatever substrate you use in your coop, a poop board is worth the while!!!

    Minnesota!

And we had to pay $50 for the permit :( We were thinking $15, but honestly at this point we just need them to go to a good home. We'd let them go for free if that was the case. We can't have them, and lord help us when they start to attempt to crow. Thanks for helping out!!!!!

    Minnesota!

Yeah, we had to turn in detailed coop and run plans. Then the city coordinator came out and inspected it. Lots of hoops. But it was a fierce debate, and I'm feeling fortunate we passed the ordinance at all. You know how it is, those nasty trouble making chickens!!

Mixing chicks and pullet...so cute I can't stand it

I introduced our new 1 week old chicks to my 4 week old salmon favorelle over the weekend. I've been doing it slowly, really watching for any aggression on the part of Sabine, the fav. She's been wonderful and patient, so tonight I decided to let her stay in with them instead of being with the...

This is such a fabulous thread! I love looking through all the pics....such beautiful birds! I have a gender question. I've tried searching and can't find an answer, so I thought I would put it to the English Orp specialists. We have 7 English Orps we hatched on Easter. They are now 3 weeks...
