    Guess the breed!

I picked up a few chicks from our feed store from their strait run bin. They order their chicks from Privett Hatchery. This little thing is 5-6 weeks old. I don't have a clue. Does Privett sell mixed breeds? She/he is a pretty thing regardless. [/IMG]

    Mystery chick identity?

I thought the color was wrong for a Sicilian. It is also growing longer feathers on its head....kind of like a Silkie rooster.

    Mystery chick identity?

Hi everyone! Can someone help me identify what breed this little one is? If the picture doesn't come through here's a description... dark grey feathers and legs, has a swept back Elvis looking do, and has a comb like a Sicilian Buttercup. Has me stumped.

Muscovy duck eggs in the incubator

Thanks Kathy! This is what I needed. I was reading the thread you gave me. I needed to know how to do the math so I know if they're losing too much or too little.

Muscovy duck eggs in the incubator

I think I'm looking for how much they lose each week....If I read the hatching thread correctly. It says they should lose 2.8%. For example, if an egg that weighed 71g today and 67g this time next week, what's the percentage lost? I don't know how to figure that.

Muscovy duck eggs in the incubator

Good morning all! Momma Muscovy disappeared (predator?), and I now have 12 eggs in the incubator. All are viable. I'm not sure exactly when she started setting, but based on weight and air cell size, best guess is they are approximately 12-14 days along. The lowest weight is 71g and the highest...

    Duckling with unabsorbed yolk sac

Hi all, I have duckling that partially hatched but the yolk sac isn't fully absorbed. Mom hatched these babies in the barn. I have it in the incubator loosely wrapped in a moist cloth. It's lower half is still in the shell. What temp and humidity should I keep the incubator at? I'm in SE...

Egg bound Silkie can't pass the egg...Help!

Hi all, I have a 6 yo Silkie hen that has an egg that she hasn't been able to pass for a couple of days now. I've been doing warm soaks, lubricating her vent, giving calcium, and keeping her warm under a heat lamp. She was pecked by the other hens pretty bad around her vent several months ago...

    Hello from Trinidad, CO

Hello everyone! I'm a recent transplant to southern CO from Alaska. I haven't been on BYC for quite a while....so long in fact, that I had to join again. I'm starting my flock over since I had to leave my almost all of my chickens in AK. I brought 4 with me but have lost 2 since Oct. My...
