Well, we got 3!! One still in the incubator but think ill give up on that one tomorrow. One of the baby's has developed splayed legs so she's all splinted up. Poor little bugger!!
Hi, I've had 3 bantam chicks hatch ( out of 4 eggs) they are 2-3 days old. They are in the brooder now. Just got home from work and one has developed splayed legs. I've followed the band aid advice and have splinted them gently together. It's keeping its balance, until one of the others knocks...
Yes! We woke this morning to find our baby chick newly hatched! Noisy little bugger! So cute though. It was still wet so must have just hatched. Had to come to work though now. Can't wait to get home to it
I hope so!! It hasn't made any more progress but I don't know when it pipped. Could have been any time between 8 and 5 o'clock today so I'm not too concerned. I can see movement so that can only be a good sign? Wonder when the others will start!! I have 4 all together. It's only a small incubator.
I've just shown my little girl the eggs, and it started cheeping!! Keeping my fingers crossed. The cat will be staying out tonight now! That's why I'd moved the incubator into the shed to start with. Yes, we shouldn't complain about the nice weather, but when it interferes with my hatching it...
I don't know what to do!!! It's so warm here in the uk at the moment. The incubator was in the shed, just got back from wk and the temp had shot up to 104!! So I carefully lifted the incubator back into the house and realised one has pipped! It's day 19. I'm worried in case I've cooked it as it...
It's extremely addictive! My problem now is that my husband organises shoots. Pheasants ect... And has asked if next time I can do some pheasants or quail. Don't think I want to do that, knowing the fate they'll have! Did your bantam eggs hatch on day 21? Heard they can be early due to the small...
Well it's early on day 18, so I've just filled the second water trough up, and gone into lockdown! Candled yesterday. They are all 'full' so to speak. Could see slight movement, but there's not much room left for them. Really exited now for hatch day! Ill be at work after today, until Friday so...
Will do. It seems to take a full 360 degree turn to increase the temp by 0.5 so should be quite safe. Will watch it carefully though. Thanks for the advise!
It's a still air manual turn incubator. It has the standard glass thermometer, reading approx 99 to 100, and I've also added a digital probe type one, that's reading 99.3 at this exact moment, though it does fluctuate to about 100.5 - does this sound about right?
Hi everyone. I'm on my second attempt at incubating. First attempt -100% failure. ( 1 hatched under a broody I had going at the same time). Think it was maybe poor quality eggs. This time, I've got 5 bantam eggs in the incubator. They are all very small eggs, and I've heard they sometimes hatch...
