    Treating coccidiosis without an antibiotic

Great. That is good to know as well. If there is no drawback to treating the hens (meaning we can still eat the eggs) then there is no reason not to treat them. Like you said better safe than sorry.

    Treating coccidiosis without an antibiotic

I was able to get some Corid and put it in the only water source. There are two other pullets that are with it so hopefully that will prevent any issues with them. I have another concern however, and am curious what your thoughts are. These young birds are separated from my laying hens. There...

    Treating coccidiosis without an antibiotic

Yup. The Vet said she only did dogs and cats and was surprisingly unpleasant about the whole thing. Anyways, the little guy made it through the night and looks slightly more energetic after some buttermilk and apple cider vinegar. I am about to leave to the feed store to grab the corid. Thanks...

    Treating coccidiosis without an antibiotic

Thanks I didn't realize that. I just called the vet again. They don't carry it over the counter and told me to call Big R in the morning. Thanks for the help!

    Treating coccidiosis without an antibiotic

Good deal. I have some buttermilk in the fridge. I will go try that. I actually called a few vets the nearest one that would see a chicken was about an hour away and wanted $50 for the visit. I can't seem to get a hold of any Corid. Is there another treatment, or home remedy for this? Unfortunately I don't think he will...

desertmarcy That is all good info. Thanks! I was able to get back in touch with the person I bought them from and turns out that her Ameraucana rooster may have been able to get in touch with her Marans hens Which is a little disappointing since I paid more for the chicks than what they were...

Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I am hoping someone can help me a little. I bought some copper marans chicks from a lady here my area. I am new to raising chickens and after doing some reading decided I wanted marans. I ended up with three copper and a blue. They just started laying about two weeks ago. However the eggs are...

    Spokane's Chicken Rules

Back in December I bought my first chicks. I read this article and based on it I have four hens and one rooster. I live in the Indian Trail area and have asked all my neighbors to make sure the rooster doesn't bother them. However, I recently got into a discussion with a friend who was adamant...
