    I re-tilled 2 rows of corn, where my chickens had gone in and ate almost all of it down to the ground! I guess next time I do corn, I'll put something around it.

    The strange thing is that he lets you pick him up. I would think that if he saw you as a threat, he wouldn't allow you to touch him. Maybe he's just trying to get you to fall in line? Your discription sounds like what I see roos do when they have a girl that's some place they don't want them...

    First coop chicken/owner learning curve?

    Keep them inside the coop for a week or 2. Keep the door closed, but the windows open to allow air to circulate. Feed them some good crumbles & scratch inside the coop. This will help them learn where home is. Then when it's time to go outside, they'll no where to go when it's time to roots...
