That's totally rad. I drive an '82 Mercedes 240D and just got 10 chickens. I guess I'm your target market, eh? Hahah. I'll be down for feed when I run out! How much is it?
I treated her again tonight.. it's obviously pretty uncomfortable when I palpate around her eye, rubbing the ointment in, especially. Also, there's not much actual exudate, which I suspect is a good thing... Anyway, I'll see how she is over the next couple of days and play it by ear. Thanks...
Hmm, you could screw a furring strip to the house in just a couple of places, then staple the net to that. I can relate, I looked out the window this morning and, down below (I live about 20' above) was a huge redtail, sitting ON the chickendome. Man... They wouldn't come out of hiding till I...
Ok, I've been reading the 'swollen eye' threads day and night, in between changing the abx-water and flushing/medicating this chook's eye with terramycin. History...
I got this barred 'Rock pullet from a lady in Cotati... as soon as I got her home, with her two friends, I noticed that her eye...
Well, some time has gotten by... I've read this whole tale, and I'm dying to know how your birds eye is today? What's the scoop? I'm hoping you have good news!
The light I have in there is red... It's only getting into the low-40s, very high 30's here... they're pretty well fully fledged. Do they even need the light?
Hm, nice. Thanks for the replies. I hadn't thought to lock them in for days at a time... I think I'll try putting them all to bed for a few nights, see how that goes. I don't actually have a provision to lock them into the coop... the ramp up into the coop doesn't have a door. I could just...
As a new owner, I'd love some insight from you more experience keepers... I don't get the impression that my birds are totally dumb, but.. some of my birds, which are all between 7 and 10 weeks tend to nest down under the coop, on the ground. They're well hidden, and sheltered from the wind...
Right! If you're talking about CO, like from car-exhaust, then sleepytime would simply set in. With CO2 (where are you going to get CO2?), the hypoxia-panic would set it and it would feel like suffocating. How about making it a little less 'choppy' by slitting their necks with a knife? I...
I think I coddle mine... I have a 250w heat lamp in their roost, which is fairly small... that and the thing's not too drafty. It's been to 38 at night here in the last few days... they'd probably be fine, but I figure, they're young, so it can't hurt.
