I agree. When I've given responses it's purely due to the fact I've learned through trial that not all blrw are created equal. My hatchery blrw are no where close to your chicken quality. I'm drooling after yours! I completely agree that you have so much more to work with then I do! Don't take...
To tell the truth my blrw are 11-12 weeks and just caught them all to choose keepers/sellers. Until this point when I caught them all it was hard to guess their sex. A few were still though guesses. Give it a few weeks! I bet you have fun speculating! :)
Hey everyone! I am wanting a nice dark blue or black rooster with dark red. I live in NE Kansas and would rather not have one shipped. My chicks are currently about 10 weeks so if someone has a similiar aged roo close to me that would be wonderful!! If you do message me with pictures of him and...
When did you get your chicks? I think the rule is usually 75% roosters out if straight run. I'm asking when you got your chicks because I got mine mid April and I'm pretty sure my mix out of 10 is mostly hens. Maybe we split the same hatch? Just a thought! You never know with straight run.
From what I've read it seems he is close to the body shape but has alot of growing to do. They recommend going for the biger birds to get that massive Wyandotte size. The coloring though isn't what they want the standard to have. I also have Mcmurray chicks and the consensus on the coloring is...
Thanks! I'm sad to say I agree about the straight comb. Such pretty blue coloring that is sad to loose!
So is the skirt (wrong term) portion of pic 2 the reason it is probably not a blue? Too light?
Thanks! It amazes me how long I can sit outside and stare at these beauties trying to identify pullets from cockerels. My husband laughs at me and I guess I'm lucky I have a child who likes them as much as I do! :) I think I look at them so much trying to decide who gets to stay and who gets sold!
I was thinking the same thing about the straight comb. It's so dissapointing that it has such beautiful blue and that it has to go!! Thanks for the input!
My 14 week old MM hatchery blrw. Mostly splash, blue, splash blue I think. One has straight comb rest seem rose comb. All nice personality. Not consistant lacing on chickens. All have survived. At times I believe that most of my 11 are hens, but these are so hard to tell!!
Hi everyone! Please any input on my MM hatchery chics. Got 11 blrw earlier this spring as chicks. I believe I've got a mix of splash, blue, and blue/splash. I'm having a hard time with telling the hens from roos too. From what I've seen on previous posts this breed/color can be tough to sex...
