    BLRW - still can't tell if it's a pullet or a cockerel

It is now 6 months old. The other three with same hatch date are crowing. This one hasn't crowed yet, but when I posted photos last month, the majority thought it was also a cockerel. I only have 4 so I'm really hoping this one is a pullet.

BLRW - Please tell me I have at least one pullet?!

I know - I sit out there and watch them - waiting for a crow. I think they are staying quiet just to spite me.

Yep - I only have 4 total and I'm afraid they are all boys! Guess I won't be hatching any more!

BLRW - Please tell me I have at least one pullet?!

Are either one of these a pullet? Or do you think both are cockerels? They are 5 months old. Same bird as above, perhaps a better picture? He's obviously a cockeral. I'm thinking boy. Please tell me this one at least is a girl!

What killed Monkey - my RIR?

When I was holding her, her breastbone was rather prominent, but she hadn't really lost a lot of weight - at least not enough that I had noticed before today.

What killed Monkey - my RIR?

She died this morning after I found her lying in the corner in the coop. She was a RIR, about 9 months old. I do have a heated water dish in the coop which was plugged in to an extension cord that runs outside the coop. She was lying right next to the extension cord. I examined the cord, it...

Ordering chickens for a 12 year old boy in 4h

Quote: Ditto the part about call your fair board. Or as another post said, get a copy of last year's fair book. We are allowed to show only a male & female pair. Drives me nuts - I don't want all those dang roosters around, but we must keep them so my son can take the girls to the fair. I...

    Sleeping/resting in Nesting Boxes

Well, closing off the nest boxes at night works - only if you are an early riser. I found when I closed the boxes at night, if I didn't get out early enough in the morning, there would be eggs on the coop floor. So, for me, it is easier to let them roost in the nest boxes, make sure I have...

I got mine a few days ago and am seriously thinking of ordering from this hatchery this year. The small order is great - except did you look at the shipping costs for small order!!!! Up to 24 chicks was over $30 shipping to my area. If I order 25 the shipping goes down to $13. BIG...
