Those photos are great!! I really wish I could take my chicks out of the brooder and they would follow me around and stay close. But alas they will have to wait a little while longer...
I've only ever used a red light. It is next to the other chicks, it leans up against them. It seems healthy otherwise, actively walking around.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Hi All I just got my order from McMurrary (a day early) all 25 doing well but one of my Blue Cochins eyes are shut. It let me open one eye but it shut right back. When I attepted the other one it started scratching so I stopped. It is defenitly the smallest of all the chicks that arrived. It...

Hi Washingtonians!! I have a rooster problem! I wasn't supposed to have any rosters, but alas I ended up having two. I found a home for my barred rock roo, but now I have an EE roo who needs a good home, ASAP. I live in an association where I can't have chickens, and I am afraid my neighbors...

I tried to feed my girls yogurt 2 weeks ago but they didn't even want anything to do with it. But now at 7 weeks they are so curious I think they will really enjoy it!
They shouldn't get treats for a little while, a few weeks at least. I know chicken don't have teeth so they need the grit to process their food. However chick starter is really soft and cumbley so they don't need grit. Mine are 7 weeks and I plan on giving them yogurt this week... but you...
I'm so glad... my older chicks have started running around the water container so i'm finding big wet spots in their bedding when I get home. No stirring there... just have to change it.
I am happy they are doing good!

I don't know. Don't give she/he away yet. I have 3 barred rock who developed their comb at differing rates then each other and a lot quicker than the buffs, EE's, and RIR's.
