Thank you. I went out and opened both doors of the big coop today and the young birds were going in and out. They don't seem too intimidated by the 2 big girls. I'll pop them in tonight and see what happens.
I have 6, 19 week old pullets. They sleep in an eglu at night. Quite jam packed. I have 2, 6 year old hens in the main coop. I've tried locking the pullets into the run with the main coop at night but they wander around distraught. I can't just lock the young girls in the coop for a few days...
Yes. We're pretty tarped up. I'm wondering what the issues are for eglu cube owners. I've read tons of reviews and everyone seems to love them. They haven't come out today. It's 10:22 and 4 degrees. Their food and water are outside the cube. Thanks for your comment. I'm a worrisome chicken owner.
We recently moved and are using the eglu cube for the winter. I have 4 hens. Barred rock, buff Orpington and two wyandottes. There is no way to put food and water in the cube and it's been so cold and windy that the girls are reluctant to come out to their tiny attached run.
I'm worried that...
We have been successful getting her to eat and drink sporadically. I think she's failing. Spoke to the vet and he agrees. He had given her a 50-50 chance from the beginning. Something else is going on. It's a very sad situation. it might be possible that the maggots had caused more damage than I...
I've offered grit. She seems dehydrated. Not eating. Twisting her neck now and then. I'm going to try giving her water with a probiotic in it. I tried one of the recipes suggested in the link you gave me. I feel a little like I'm torturing her. I only gave her one syringe of the mixture...
Yes. We've been back to the vet. The main scab came off and another less scary one formed. I will read the information you provided. I've given her oyster shell as per the vets advice but whether she's consumed it is another question.
Thank you.
New issue with Buffy. I've been giving her the antibiotic for weeks now. Her eating is sporadic but recently she seemed quite a bit hungrier. She had some far more normal droppings too. Then she stopped eating. When I tipped her over to put ointment on her wound clear liquid poured out of her...
Buffy is still with us. In the house. Two doses of sulphur med daily and antibiotic ointment on the new skin. She's not eating or drinking much but she has something everyday. She's getting slightly more active. Still waiting for the large dead skin to drop off.
Just thought I'd keep you posted.
