Thanks superchickruth. I did see it on line. She acts like normal and swelling is less. Still swollen, but doing very well. I guess we will just keep a good eye on her. But thanks for the response:)
Lol. Actually this will probably cause an uproar from readers, but we did nothing. The swelling is much less, she eats, drinks, poops and runs around like normal! I saw on line that if she is doing o.k. let it go down by itself. That seemed the best for her and us:). So somehow she is doing...
Unbelievably this a.m. her vent is 100% perfect! I am actually hoping she has quit having eggs. We'll see. She is now back in general population and loving life:)
O.k. yesterday after a long soak and prep h it stayed in probably an hour. She poops, eats soft food, drinks and is isolated. No eggs in 3 days. But most of the protruding part is hard. Should I keep putting it back in or will it never recover now that it's hard?
Thanks. I have been soaking her butt in Epsom salt and using prep h. She has pooped, drinks and I will give her some scrambled eggs now. She acts normal except for this problem. Thanks for the help.
I also have a silkie with the same problem. I push it in and it pops right back out. She is isolated and drinking and laid an egg today that cracked and she ate it. The others were bothering her so last night she was and will remain in solitary. If I can't get it to stay in will it ever go in...
O.k. Here is a strange one... my ee lays eggs normally but also mounts and tries to do the deed on the other girls. If there is a spot of blood in the egg is it fertile? Are there hermaphrodite chix? We don't have a rooster. Help?!
I always steam mine about 23 mins in a double boiler with the lid on and they peel perfectly every time. After steaming them rinse with cold water until you can handle them. Crack big end and peel...voila!
thank you for insight. i now have 2 and they are awesome. also have 4 other hens of various breeds and the waiting to be sure they were hens was nerve wracking! we got lucky the first time and will now probably stick with sexlinks.
so far have put wazine in h20 2 days. still only see worms in 1 of my 6 girls droppings but am treating them all this way. everyone seems just as happy and healthy as always and are drinking the mixture. so, hoping for the best!
thanks for the help! glad to hear it wasn't a stupid question. i am new to chix and this is my first bout with worms. maybe safeguard or valbazen would be better? saw that on here after hubby got the ivermectin sheep drench. maybe ts will let me return that!
