    MY BARRED ROCK

Bring her to a Vet. Any vet near your immediate area. If they can help; which they most likely can; they will do their best. And if they can't help, they will point you in the direction of a facility that can. And if they don't, ask.

    BANTAM COCHINS CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love bantam Frizzle Cochins. But sadly, yesterday, I lost my first Fit and Show Champion and Reserve Champion Shilo.....the bird in my picture is Rontu, my Splash Rooster that died a while ago from stress at the fair. You could pull him across the yard by his hackles and he would still run to...

    MY BARRED ROCK

Are her legs totally mangled? Can she simply not move them? Is she healthy in every other way? These are ways of seeing this disease. Im sorry for all the questions. There is sadly no cure for Merek's disease. Other symptoms include "Partial or total paralysis of the legs, sometimes wings, and...

    MY BARRED ROCK

This could be Marek's Disease. Now, Marek's Disease doesn't just fly in, and attack the bird, it slowly takes over and paralyzes the bird. I had a bird that had this, and it was very hard to see her slowly get paralyzed starting with her legs. We had to put her down. But, I could be totally...

    Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hello fellow Washingtonians! I live around the Tacoma area and Yesterday I lost my first Fit and Show bird, and regular show bird, Shilo. She was a grand champ and reserve champ at Fit and Show at the Puyallup fair. So I was looking for a somebody whom breeds Bantam Cochins, any variety under...

    What will they be?

I am starting a breeding program with my birds. They are Bantam Cochins. Male is a bad quality frizzle. There are two females. One female is a Black Frizzle Cochin and a Mottled Cochin. I am getting more show quality birds to show. I was wondering how to figure out how many will be Frizzled, and...

I need to get this off my chest!

This isn't something I would normally do for a bird. But I think this is something that should be done for the best bird in the whole world. I had a bird, her name is Shilo. She was my Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Fit and Show mottled Bantam Cochin. I had her since she was just a chick. I...

    Hatcheries

Same with me. Bit me in the rear. I wouldn't have my grand champion D'uccel if I didn't, though.

Can I have a 2-3 week old chick put in with day- old chicks?

Hmmm. Partridge Rock? I would say no. They need different heating temperatures, and bullying could happen.

Grit and treats for chicks as a bribe

Not to chickens. To chicks, yes, a lot of things are toxic but fully grown chickens don't have much to fear. I would look it up, though. Basically, if you died in their coop they would eat you. If you're going to give them treats stick with crickets, etc.

    Hatcheries

MPC is great, though. They always respond to recommendations, emails, and if they mess up the re-do your order for free. Very wonderful people there, I tell you! We don't have to really buy chicks anymore, and I really don't like buying chicks. We have Silkies, Cochins, and Jap's going broody...

    Hatcheries

I think your best bet is MPC. If they get the order wrong, the throw in extra chicks to make up for it. Beware of UPS though. Multiple time chicks have been shaken to death/Lost in the mail with UPS. But, That could be the only shipping service.

Haha, sometime I do that too. But, there can never be a '100' percent sexing guarantee on chicks. Wish there was!
