    If you have a dog.....

We have a Corgi/Beagle mix stray who came to us as an adult 5 years ago and had killed his fair share until we had a few discussions. No beatings took place, just some corrective training. He's now their biggest protector and shares his water and food with them. Also have a 1.5 year old...

Whew, it's been a long couple days. The trappers set out their snares 2 days ago and have since caught several possum and a bobcat. I've been on the phone with several of our neighbors and we've discovered the extent of the damage done by the coyotes in the last couple of years. 2 years ago...

Quote: i could be wrong but i don't think a donkey in its 30s would do as well as a donkey in its prime against a gang of yotes but im not to familiar on them You're correct, Barred. He was between the ages of 31-33. His original owners couldn't remember the exact year of his birth. He...

    Astralorp X with ???

Standard Cochins. Gorgeous birds! My barred Cochin roo (may he rest in peace) was bigger at 5 months old that my RSL roo was at 2 years. I, too, may have to get some now!

Quote: Thanks for the info. The fellows that are here were one of the few the game warden recommeded to me. I'd contacted them before Wildlife made that suggestion and it made me feel better that I had hired someoe they recommended.

Thank you both. I was horrified when I found my old guy in the pasture. The coyote population here is huge and I'm wondering if that plus the cold weather is making them look for prey in things they wouldn't have in the past. We have lots of animals as well as dogs, so the poison scares me...

We live in what is basically a clearing in the forest. We've always had coyotes around and they've never given us any real trouble--until now. Within the last month or so they've attacked a neighbor's dog, killed one neighbor's entire flock of chickens and ducks, taken 2 calves from the same...

Dog Shares Her Bone With the Hens!

Good dog! She's beautiful. A wolfhound mix? She looks leggy, lol. Our dog Otis is a beagle and corgi mix. He has the higest prey drive of any dog we've owned, but he lets our RIRs eat out of his bowl along side him. I love it when they figure out they chickens are part of the pack.

    Good online chick hatcheries?

I've ordered from Ideal plenty of times and have no complaints at all. They were extremely friendly and helpful. I got the birds I wanted as well as several packing peanuts (we don't mind them--they go to freezer camp). Had only one death in over 100 birds ordered. A friend and I went in...

WTB chickens age 5 months and up--Southern Middle TN

We suffered a catastrophic loss here to a stray dog and I'd like to rebuild our flock. Our LGD is getting on in years and I've taken to letting him sleep in at night. The stray took full advantage of this and dug and clawed his way into our coop where he killed 15 of our 20 chickens. Needless...

    Middle TN meet up?

I'm in! I'm in extreme southern middle TN, right above the AL stateline. I'm closer to Huntsville AL than to Nashville, but I don't mind driving.
