In everything you read they say chickens are allright if they are dry and out of the wind (shelter wise) so them being all wet with the cold just made me wonder.
I can just picture your silkies - they must look like wet pom-poms! Got any pics?
Need advice. I got some 6 week old chickens yesterday. Today it is raining. It is 45 degrees. My new chickens are not going in the coop where it is warm and dry, they are hiding under the mower and picnic table. Should I put them in the coop and shut them up for the day where they are dry -...

Hello! If you eat eggs (unknowingly of course!) from a hen that has worms - what happens?? Do you get sick? Die?? I am new here and my hens will be laying in the fall

Good Morning online friends! Hope you all made it through the storms and flooding. We are doing good.
Does anyone know where I can find a few silkie pullets near me??? Crossville, TN

Thank you for all of your comments on my mystery chicken! But I must admit I am disappointed that TSC would completely lie to it's customers. Does not seem fair. I know that I did not pay much for them, but still I thought I was getting the australorps!
I wish there were more places to buy...
What features does the australorp have that the one on the right is missing? I was hoping at least one was an australorp! (That is what they said they were at the store.)
I am totally new to chickens and love to learn - I really enjoy the BYC site!
Hello everyone
I bought 4 chicks from TSC that were supposed to be all Black Australorp. Well, two have feathers that are outlined in a pretty brown color. The bird on the left is one of them - the one on the right is one of the australorps. Do you know what breed it is? The birds are 4...
Thanks for all your posts! At least I know there is nothing wrong with them. The only reason I was concerned is because over the past week I took them out and let them run in our fenced yard all day long - they loved it!! But now they are not coming out to play. One or two came down the ramp...
Hello all Last night was my chicks first night in their new coop. I have 8 chicks that are 4 weeks old. And I opened the door this morning over an hour ago and they will not come out. Should I take them out or just let them sit there all day??
Thanks!! Michelle in Crossville Tennessee
Hello! I have a question for all of you experienced chicken lovers!
Recently I purchased 4 laying hens around 1 year old. One of them has a dirty bottom - looks like they messed all their hind feathers - poop.
How do I make the chicken well?
Also, I am not sure which of the 4 are giving...
Hello all!
I am building a coop and have a small problem. All my books do not tell me how big to make the little chicken door!
I have Buff orpingtons - large breed. How small of a door would be okay?
Thank you for your help and have a blessed day!
