Could hens survive off of their own eggs?

Yeah, that would probably be true. Thanks for replying :)

Could hens survive off of their own eggs?

I don't know if anyone would know, it's just something i always have thought about. I wouldn't let my chickens just try and survive solely off of their own eggs, so the only place I could think to look is here. It's ok if no one knows, it's not a life or death situation, just wondering.

yeah, that was what we were thinking...we may have to sell him because we arent allowed to have roosters in our town, but we'll have to see how loud he crows because we keep our silkies inside. I guess we can only wait.

we're quite sure speckles is a male because speckles is is half the size of our female who is older than speckles, but with the feathers is larger than her. her name is peppa and you can find a picture of her here:

    Silkie molting?

Well she's not really picking them out, she's itching herself (I saw a few Mosquitos around her the other day) and she gets feathers in her mouth, and when I pick her up she leaves feathers all over my hands and arms, so right now it could go either way. I just hope she's broody, because we...

    Is my silkie molting?

I would add pics to the post but the only place I have pics of her are on my iPad, and I don't know how to add photos to a thread, but I have the most recent pic of her in my album, if you could see her from there. I'll definitely try new bedding, and right now she's eating crumbles, but she...

    Is my silkie molting?

And she accepted the eggs...my mille fleur layed another egg today (she's a great layer! She's layed almost everyday, she skipped one day though) and I put it under her. I put her in this large bin inside because is cold outside, and all I have are pine shavings in there, and she's with another...

    Is my silkie molting?

We have a white silkie named salt, she has no feathers on her head and neck because a turkey got her, but now all I see are her feathers everywhere, and when I pick her up, more feathers. I thought it was my other silkie peppa that was pulling them out but she's just loosing them. Is she...

I want to wash my soaked silkie

Ok, so since its raining, I have my two silkies inside, and my youngest, peppa, decided 'since I can't be outside to get wet ima get wet in here' and she soaked herself in the water bowl. Now I don't want to blow dry her because its been a while since she's actually been cleaned, and since she's...

    Fertile mille fleur eggs!

I also forgot to mention I have two silkies, and would like to know if they'd be of any help. One is not laying yet, (she's almost 6 months) and the other is over a year. The part that's funny to me is that the younger one is top of the pecking order. The black one is youngest (peppa) and the...
