I started with hatching eggs from Germany. I have no clue whether or not they used the Orpington to create the jubilee variety in Germany. Short after I hatched the eggs, the breeder I got the eggs from, disappeared from the radar. That way I was left with a lot of questions left unanswered...
Why would you start over from step 1? Just use a silver laced Wyandotte from a different bloodline with you blue laced silver flock for genetic diversity. That way you don't have to struggle to get rid of the leaky red (again).
This was the first cross
F1 x F1
This was the only hen I kept, already showing some good markings
Added a lavender mottled cockerel and a gold Co/co hen split for mottled in that pen.
This generation I'll end up with lavender mottled and black split/mottled birds. Next year I should start...
I see some very good quality birds! Your blue laced silver cockerel shows good lacing on his wings (and even a little on his shoulders). Great for breeding! Lacing on the chest is too heavy, but a lot can change when he starts showing adult plumage. Looking forward to see more of these later...
@RFR of CA
Those look good too! My biggest remarks would be the lacing on the wings and the legs that look a little long. The color looks more dark, but I believe that the pictures were taken in a more shady area.
This rooster on the picture underneath (my picture, not my bird) shows three...

Great project and good looking color. You do work with big numbers in the breeding flocks. If I understand correctly you have 3 cockerels and 11 pullets. Isn't it more interesting to keep the cockerels separated and put them together with the two best matching pullets? The cockerel...
This is a blue laced silver bantam hen on the show for young birds of the Dutch Wyandotte Club. Still think it's a stunning color. I no longer have them myself.
@GreenRiverHen
You have stunning birds! Shows are always interesting, but in my opinion, the best part of the hobby is enjoying the flock(s) at home.
I hope your health only improves and you can do whatever you love doing.
I am happy to share! It should be possible, although I never shipped to Ireland. I never shipped birds either, only eggs. But we can figure something out.
I think it's great that you are so enthusiastic about the columbia variety in large fowl Wyandotte. In Europe, large fowl isn't that popular and I never saw a LF columbian Wyandotte so far on exhibitions. Is leg color a thing to improve or is the yellow just fading away when it comes to older...
@Catandherchicks @Dave C
Thanks! Happy to hear others are liking this color as well.
I have put together three pullets and a cockerel that will be the breeding flock for next year.
The cockerel is a jubilee on Mh/mh, there is a lavender pullet, the "isabel porselein" pullet (this is the...
@CelticMoon1
Really like your partridge bantams!
A breeder in Holland and myself are working on this new color in Wyandotte bantams.
Had a lot of luck to hatch this one with only +-1% chance to get this result.
@dreamwallaby
I would like to follow the evolution in color of your blue cockerel. I am working on blue jubilees myself but with the Wyandotte bantams. Pullet 2 might be just a split for the mottled gen.
Good looking flock! Keep us posted
