    Cornish x chick can't stand

Ok thankyou. I will try to get some vitamin b12 tablets for it. If that doesn't do anything, I guess I'll cull it.

    Cornish x chick can't stand

Mtnmomma, that is what I'm afraid ill have to do with mine. It is readily eating and drinking right now, and doesn't seem to be in pain so I am going to give it a couple days to perk up. Slingshot, I am adding sav-a-chick electrolytes to the water and nutri-drench. I just started adding them...

    Cornish x chick can't stand

Also, the chick has been eating and drinking since fine since it has been seperated. I'm feeding it an 18% non medicated chick starter right now, in case that matters.

    Cornish x chick can't stand

Hi everyone. So I bought 10 meat chicks two weeks ago and they have all been doing great until yesterday. I've noticed that one of them refuses to stand. I realize that meat birds grow faster than they can handle, but i haven't read anything about it happening this early. They are 16 days old as...

Help! Chicks can't seem to find food??

I just got my 10 meaties yesterday and some of them are continuously scratching around trying to find food in the bedding. I've put dipped their beaks in the feed, but they won't eat it! There are about half of them that are doing this. What should I do? Will they find it on their own...

    Show me your quail pens!!!

Thankyou! (Assuming you were talking to me). The entire thing is 5 ft wide by 2 1/2 ft deep. It's a little taller than I would have liked it, but I converted from an old rabbit hutch so I didn't really have a choice.

    Show me your quail pens!!!

This is the new quail cage. It has room to house two quads. Right now I only have one quad in there (you can see the side that doesn't have the 1/4" hardware cloth on the bottom). Not quite finished yet either. Still have some painting and cleanup to do. :)

    Is this egg fertile?

It's not glare but based on the pictures James the Blad posted it doesn't have nearly as big of a white circle as it should.

    Is this egg fertile?

Thankyou. I know it's not a great picture, my iPad camera isn't the best. There is definitely a white speck is little off from the center of the egg with a sorta clear ring around it. Would that be the bullseye?

    Is this egg fertile?

I recently started raising quail. I bought four breeder birds (one male and three females) and I'm going to hatch out their eggs in my brinsea incubator. However, I can't tell for sure if their eggs are fertile. I've been looking for the "bullseye" in the yolk, and I'm not sure it that's what...

    Free range 4h meat chickens

I completely agree with you. They have chickens called "freedom rangers" which are meat birds that are brown instead of white. I may be incorrect, but I think they grow slower than the cornish X. Another option is giving cornish x a try. Believe it or not, these birds WILL free range. If you...

    Free range 4h meat chickens

Hi copper! I am in the FFA, which is similar to 4h. Difference is FFA is high school students only. Anyway, what are your reasons for not wanting to raise cornish x?

    most humane way to slaughter?

When you say "it takes eight minutes for the goose to die (stop moving)" it isn't entirely true. Yes, it may take the bird 8 minutes to stop moving, but the bird will have died much sooner. What you are seeing when the bird flops around is the nerves in action. The bird is dead when that...

    most humane way to slaughter?

I prefer slitting the throat. It sounds horrible, but I truly believe it's a painless way to go. Once while I was slitting the throat of a BBW turkey, I sliced my finger badly. I had to go to the hospital and get stitches it was so deep, but I didn't even feel a thing and I didn't notice the cut...
