Chick has a protruding vent and pasty butt? Help! *PICS*

I know you posted this forever ago but jsut in case you still check this, did you prolapsed vent gal end up ok? I have some 2 day olds and one got pasty butt. I very gently cleaned it off but I can see she must’ve been straining because it’s popped out a bit and like you wrote, it moves

Rant USPS tracking updates when expecting chicks

Yes!! I’m going through that right now. Those not even info stating it’s live animals!! It’s saying priority mail is all and 4 days!! If that’s true I won’t have them by then, they won’t make it. This sucks!!

Introducing myself. I hope I’m doing this right. I’ve been a member since 2009 but never did this

So, been here since 09’ but rarely posted. That’s when my chicken dream started but I never got my Girls until last year in 2020. I’m a retired Police Officer and now I do true crime reinactments and some other acting on tv. But what I really want is a farm. That’s where actual happiness would...

Chicken won't stop biting my feet! Aggressive, Dominant or Attention Seeking?

I hope we can bump this thread. My Dawn started doing this to me this week. It’s so painful!! She’s my favorite , I hate to say that but we share a very special bond. This isn’t love taps it’s like she’s trying to eat my ankles, feet and lower legs.I’m covered in bites that burn. I’m terrified...

New egg layer, egg looks different from my other Lady

I’m thinking it’s the combination of being a new layer and I had a new fence built last week. All the hammering and such most likely upset them. It had to be done because the fence was falling down. I feel really bad for stressing my gals :/

New egg layer, egg looks different from my other Lady

Thank you so much. She’s a very “kept hen” lol. So I hope it’s just being a new layer. Tilly had perfect eggs from the get go. I will give her super extra attention and extra sprouts and such. Well, I don’t know who the momma was, so they all get extra sprouts and extra everything. So happy...

New egg layer, egg looks different from my other Lady

I have 3 Rhode Island Red Ladies (loves of my life). Last week Tilly started laying and her eggs are kinda small, but they look normal. Today someone else laid for the first time!! I’m so excited but I’m worried and I hope she’s ok. I don’t know if it’s Dawn or Laya who laid, but the lighter...

    GRB73 dogs and chickens

When my Cairn Terrier mix met The Girls as chicks he always licked his lips and tried to pounce on them. I was terrified for a month straight. One day I decided I would have to handle this and get them together again. That very day I gave him a little leash slack and he didn’t jump, he fell...

Y'all are such kind and supportive people!! I'm getting a lot of flack from some of my friends over this for some reason. Saying, "have you lost your clucking mind?" and saying they are dirty :( I love having a supportive place to come, where people won't judge me for wanting these chicks. I...

My name is Grace and I am starting a small, backyard coop and am getting 2 hens. I'm nervous because I've never done this before but I love animals and I think this would make me happy. I became disabled in my back and right arm about 9 months ago, and I am going to do a lot of research before I...
