thankyou so much for letting me know about the chart some of the things I knew but not all. The picture of the chicken with the lobster was awesome thanks again!
How much "green" food is too much? I know with rabbits too much can cause diarrhea. Once in a while I hang up romaine lettuce that they like to tear at also cabbage. But how often is it okay? Also I read that chickens shouldn't have citrus but our neighbors across the street give them...
I agree with you. I have two Buffs named Lucy and Izzy. Lucy is very friendly and sometimes stays in my lap for over an hour. Izzy is more standoffish but the Buffs are definitely my favorites though I do love all my girls.
Hey I get where you are coming from I've been this way my whole life and I am in my 50's. My husband is the total opposite so I guess it's true we do attract. I was fortunate to be able to get the courage to speak up not once but at least a few times at our animal by-law meetings. It was hard...
I LOVE chickens, they are so happy to see me when I get home from a crappy day at work, and my day seems to get so much better! Wish my family greeted me so enthusiastically!
Hi! -from western Ma. I have 12 chickens and my son has 11 goats of various ages. 2 of our Australorps live in with the goats and they get along fine. The one male goat we have has taken a shine to one of them and sometimes are seen lying side by side. Goats do need companions so please get at...
Other than collecting the eggs everyday my hubby has no interest, he sometimes feels the cost is too much but he realizes it is something I really enjoy so does put up with it. Doesn't understand that they are my pets and will not be going in the stew pot at anytime. But despite our differences...
Joined in August thought it was time to say hello, I have 12 hens and they are of different breeds. I've got Buff Orps. Silver Wynadottes, Barred rocks, Black Australorps, White Leghorns and one that I am not sure of her breed. They are great pets, my son also has 11 goats and 1 bunny. We are...
I prefer Poulin layer pellets, it is the brand I have been using since they were babies and never had a problem, not sure if they are available everywhere though. I get all of my feed at a small feed and grain store as I like to support the little guys. Also give my girls various fruits and...
what causes eggs to have a rubbery surface or no shell at all. l have been giving them oyster shells for the calcium and I feed them layer pellets. But I have gotten 2 jelly eggs in 2 days.
lovie chick here from the western part of the state. Only been a member for a couple of weeks and there is some pretty cool stuff on this site. I have twelve girls and they are all awesome. So you are not all alone.
Hey thanks for the reply I'm going to give this a shot first as we have seen some feathers laying around and if yogurt is just going to go through it just sounds like another problem.
I have no roosters as they are not allowed. I have 12 hens and about 6 of them that are missing their feathers. One of my black australorps had this problem a few months back so moved her and her sister in with the goats and they grew theirs back. Can't move them all in there1 and still...
