    Is this a bound egg?

We culled her last night. It was the drake. There was no egg in there. :-(

    Is this a bound egg?

This could be also a prolapse from my drake trying to mate with this poor hen. Is there any way I can get this stuff back inside her? She seems to be fighting back (pushing strongly so even more stuff tries to come out), when I try to push it inside of her.

Is this a bound egg or something else? I soaked her in epsom salt for 20 minutes. The round thing is very soft and does not feel like an egg at all. Help? Lidia

Limping duck, brewers yeast or vitamin B?

Btw, this is what I have on hands - Terramycin. Can I use it? It is an ointment. Is there any antibiotic I should give her to consume?

Limping duck, brewers yeast or vitamin B?

Hi all My favourite White Crested female duck, Bessie, started limping all of a sudden 6 days ago. I'm quite confused as to what's happening, so I will describe the whole situation. I have 5 ducks total: 3 females 2 drakes and some 12 chickens. The drakes are quite aggressive and try to mate...

Older lame duck - what could be the reason?

Thank you both, and specifically for the story Miss Lydia. I sometimes carry Brownie out or back into the coop, though she does not like it. She got used to it though. I can't believe ducks would get arthritis and so early too. 9 years old is not that much for a duck from my understanding...

Older lame duck - what could be the reason?

I have an older duck called Brownie. She is about 8 or 9 years old. More than a year ago she started limping. It was getting worse. I checked her feet but there was nothing out of ordinary there. It got so bad she could hardly walk. I looked online and found that it could be caused by...

White, puffy eye on my duck.

Just wanted to update that I took her to a vet after a week of applying antibiotic. She has no infection, no scratched cornea and no foreign objects in the eye. At this point she only has edema which may or may not clear on its own. The infection was gone pretty much within the first two...

White, puffy eye on my duck.

I'm applying antibiotic twice daily. She doesn't mind saline solution nor antibiotic but did not like when sprayed Vetricyn. This is what her eye looked like today. I still can't see her eye...

White, puffy eye on my duck.

Here is the photo of her eye... :-( As you can see, her eye is completely covered by yellowish stuff. I tried cleaning it last night, but I don't want to rub her eye. It is not coming off just with gentle touch of a gauze pad soaked in saline solution. Is what I see a nictitating...

White, puffy eye on my duck.

Just the eye. Nothing else seems to be a problem. Though she may be in pain, cause she was shaking her head to the left, as if trying to shake off something on the right. When I used saline solution she didn't seem to care, only at some point at the end started making the same motion. and...

White, puffy eye on my duck.

Thank you. Sadly, they won't ship Terramycin to California. I also cannot find my polysporin powder and I can't find it online either - discontinued!

White, puffy eye on my duck.

One of my ducks had a white, puffy eye with some discharge coming out of it. It started yesterday and I separated her from the flock and gave her water with Tetratex, thinking it was respiratory problem. However, today I tried to clean it with saline solution and it looks really bad. She...

Watering system with 55 gallon rain water barrels

Hi all I wanted to post a follow up with how the system works so far. Here is how it looks: I have 4 barrels, 55 gallon each, daisy chained at the bottom. We have not had enough rain to fill the barrels completely yet. I do not have an easy way to tell how much water they are holding...

    Hello from SF Bay!

Hi everyone, We live in the SF Bay Area and have had chickens for over 3 years now. We started with almost known breeds, but by now they crossed so much I have no idea what we have (other than one Light Brahma hen). We have about 15 chickens and 4 one week old chicks at the moment. Well...
