I don't think I'll use the pond for a quick dip, but the cage idea may be ok. I have a rooster just don't know if I'm ready for more chicks as of yet. Today is her 4th day.
No she is pretty quite. She will growl a bit but will let me pick her up. Gets all puffy. Will she continue to lay eggs or will she stop? I haven't gotten any from her now for a couple of days.
Well I had me a little scare yesterday and from the help of all here I found out that my hen is broody. I have to make her go outside and eat, shut the coop up so she can't get back in. I am so glad she isn't sick.
Now the next question. What can I expect from her? Will she continue to lay eggs...
Took an egg and set it in front of her. She looked at it this way and sideways. I turned my back on her for a moment and when I turned back around the egg was gone. So it looks as if she is broody. I took her out of the box and put her in the run. She is all puffed up and eating well.
Thanks for...
She has been laying in the past. When I put her in the other pen all she would do is stand there. Walk around a bit but would not lay down. I let her out and she ran back to the coop got a drink of water and climbed back in her nesting box where she is at the moment. I ran some warm water and...
Hello Everyone,
I think I have a sick hen. She is about 8 mos. old and is a Barred Rock. She was sitting in her nesting box all day yesterday and last night. This morning she was still sitting. (No eggs). My wife said she ate a little this morning while she was feeding the others. I took her out...
We are getting our eggs now. We have 2 RIR and 2 Rocks that are producing. We are getting 4 eggs a day and one day we even got a double yoker. COOL!
We have to Orpington who are just about 3 months.
This all sounds good. I have some extra white Christmas lights I think I'll give it a shot. Timer set to come on at 5am and to go off by 8am and back on at 4pm to 7pm. But right now my roo still wakes up and starts his crow around 4am.
Can you tell me what kind of duck we have. I believe the bigger one is a goose. Also how do I know if its a female or not? The smaller duck is very noisy were as the bigger one hardly says anything.
Hello all,

Hello all,
We have some new chicks. For the last month we have kept them in a pen next to the coop so the others could get use to them. The chicks are now about 2 months old. The others are about 5 months old. When would be a good time to migrate them to the bigger coop with the rest of the...
