Thanks to everyone who gave advice and helped. None of my chicks survived to hatch. I did do an eggtopsy of them. All were fully developed. The membranes seemed very dry to me. Some were not positioned correctly. I did not see any pips through the membrane, except for one.
I am going to...
Hahah, a little. Which is funny - when it comes to horses, I've assisted with births, surgeries and all kinds of emergency stuff. But these little chicks have me more nervous than a first time Mamma LOL
I have not. And I'm not quite sure how to tell if they have done the internal pip. One air sac looks extremely huge in space, compared to the others. And it looked like I could see a beak through it. Not quite sure...
On November 2 at 9:30pm I put my first batch of eggs into the incubator. I kept temperatures steady and humidity was fine. I removed the infertile ones.
It's now November 27th and not one pip yet. I seen the eggs moving yesterday, and I candled a couple today. I did see movement in a couple...
Getting a bit nervous. Hatch day was Saturday, and a full 21 days would have been Saturday night at 9:30pm. As of this moment, not even one pip. The eggs are rocking a bit, and I've seen movement in all of them. I'm doubly nervous because I have to go to work tomorrow (Been on vacation and...
I have some that will hopefully be hatching tomorrow! The Polish is the only rooster I have. Though I'm not a big fan of polish breads, I couldn't resist trying to hatch some eggs for the first time. Just happened my laying hens are leghorn! I was not sure if they were fertilized, but apparently...
Thankfully, mine hasn't changed yet. I do have extra lighting but they are still free ranging during the day. I probably just jinxed myself lol. Random question - (I'm new to chickens!) I hear a lot of talk about molting, however, my five girls didn't. They are about seven months. Any ideas why...
Trying to find some pictures of cockerels so I can see the difference of the red markings. I have found a few, but think I need to see one in real life at the age mine are. Of course, I'm brand new at this. Now, give me anything to do with Equines, and I can help out LOL. Once again, thanks again!
Thank you so much for your help, I greatly appreciate it. I am enjoying the EE so much. I will have to go google some EE cockerels to learn how to identify them.
