Yes! That is what happened to ours just a few days after we carved it! We carved it on Sunday...went to set candy out the candy and it was just black and oozing! We got a "not perfect" pumpkin on the same day, from the same patch...one that the patch wanted to get rid of...and busted it up for...
Oh I think I screwed this reply up... still a newbie at this...anyway...
Thanks, Dawg for the info. Our conditions are pretty good, but we are thinking of switching to a bubbling waterer when not treating with the ACS. I am wondering something...last week we have the girls a pumpkin and I notice...
Thanks for sharing... How is she today?

Thanks for all the help and concern, y'all! Goldie seems to be doing great today! Eating, drinking...all normal. Gave all 7 girls an "oral exam" and everybody looks clear and good. Seriously can't believe we didn't notice Goldie's condition sooner. It's been a good lesson to slow down and check...
Update: Goldie is home and seems to be doing fine. The vet did see flaggalate (sp?) on the slide, which means protozoan were present, which means canker. She took pictures during the surgery and is going to send them to me, so I will post. I think they might be helpful to others in the same...
Is it contagious to humans?! I googled that a bunch and what I saw... Or what I thought I saw...was that it doesn't pass to humans. I practiced very good hand washing the first time I saw/touched it and used gloves afterwards, but you know how it is...you are just trying to help and who knows...
Will be happy to update and will get a picture tomorrow. The vet said she used gas to sedate her. I didn't know that's how they "sedate" chickens. One other interesting piece of info...educational...is that the tumor had pulled the esophagus in a way, that it was a miracle that I didn't aspirate...
Soooo...update...I took Goldilocks to a vet this morning. Long story short: the vet gassed her and was able to take the mass/plaque off which was all down her trachea and esophagus. Goldie can now close her mouth, thank goodness. She prepared slides to send off to pathology, but at $150, I...
So...I mashed up a 250mg metronidazole tablet I had and mixed it with water and sucked it up into a syringe. I was able to get that down her throat, slowly but most of it. That was at about 1pm. I went back out to give her more water before sunset and it could be my imagination, but maybe the...
Ok, thanks for all of the info! Do you suppose a canker could get as big as the one my chicken has in a few days ? Also, I have some metro tablets that are leftover from one of my dogs.... Would that work? What do you think is the best way to get it into her throat?
Help! Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? We discovered this on one of our girls today and as far as I know, she was fine two days ago. We thought she had swallowed something and we tried to gently pull it out, but it is...I'm pretty sure...attached! She may be able to get some...
