My coop was inspired by a design in the BYC coop section: https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=6916-Coop_Design
I liked the idea of having it built on an elevated platform, both to keep me from bending over too far while servicing it and to have a shady section underneath for...

That's the Human Being credo, not just the hobo's.
Unfortunately where the most "kindness" (as in faceless and impersonal govt support) is given seems to be where you find the most polar opposite behavior to that credo.
Their credo says "No one owes you anything and never forget it."...

How about close to 100 years of successful milk quality regulation that has almost eliminated a major source of food-bourne disease outbreaks? Every time a major outbreak occurs people start demanding stricter food quality regulations. This is not about "them" (the government) versus...

Q9 doesn't always take dissenting opinions well. It is a shame, because when he isn't being like that, he is fun to carry on a conversation with
You serious?
He made calm pointed statements (for the most part, even in the face of antagonism) and backed them up with factual accounts...
It's individual property rights, beginning with the property of one's own body that trumps all. Once that is dilluted the hell of good intentions is well under way. Q9 sees this, many of you don't.

Murray Rothbard did probably (I can't say for sure) the best study on colonial America in his "Conceived in Liberty" series....vols 1-4. A huge undertaking to read (or listen to like I do) much less...
I picked up 2 of the ISA Browns.
I will testify that these are some of the nicest, hardest working chickens in the business!
Great layers and quite friendly.

Taken by itself probably no more onerous than any single step taken by the British parlament and the King to insure loyalty and continued revenue from the American colonies.

Ask around the world......it's a joke WITH one too.
We have a navy made to battle the Japanese fleet, any multi billion dollar ship of which is vulnurable to mini subs or surface skimming missles, we have an army waiting for the German advance where that type of fight will likely never be seen...

I have no doubt they would do that or something like it again....say nationalizing private retirement savings to "save" their SS ponzi scheme.

Political risk is always a real factor, especially now that we have a govt so large and so entrenched that it is likely to do literally anything in a moments notice to maintain itself.
The dying beast thrashes wildly and this one is sure to do just that before it admits that maybe it has grown...

It's only in those rare periods and locales in history where people have the luxury to feel that way where that happens. We here are nearing the end of just such a period. Hunger radicalizes like nothing else, or rather, falling to a state of hunger when having not known that state...
I also realized as time went on my jumping in guns a blazing approach turned more people off from what iw as trying to say then actually made people listen. My advice to Q9 is the same advice given to me. If you come off as too extreme, no one is going to listen to you. they will write you off...

Actually I was typing while you were posting and I didn't see what you said. I fully agree with your statement about neo cons and far left liberals. Too far to either side blinds a person to reality. I like that chart you posted. I'm left of center in the middle section there. I could...
Just an idea....maybe we could stop paying farmers not to grow?
Maybe we drop tariffs allowing prices to come down and encourage an international price reduction.
Maybe we could stop viewing deflation as some kind of evil and see it as poor people do......a blessing.
