I have a GQF Sportsman cabinet incubator. I've had it for years and love it. I have read that other people have bought the Nurture Right 360 and have had good luck with it. It holds about 20+ eggs i believe.
Depends on what part of the country you live in. I live in southeastern Louisiana and people do not like to pay over $15 for an egg layer. Specialty breeds in my area dont go over $30 per bird.
@sylviethecochin Thanks for the reply. The problem of buying quality breeding stock for a BLR Orpington is that I have only found one person working on this color in Orpingtons and the lacing needs improvement.
My poultry gentics are very limited. Any help would be appreciated.
Scenario 1: I have a poorly laced BLR Orpington. To get better lacing and more BLR, would i need to mate the BLR Orpington to a Gold Laced Orpington? Would that give me some better laced BLR Orpingtons?

Yes and provide water and chick starter for them. Dip there beak into the water (just a little bit) and put a little starter on a papertowel. They instinctly start pecking at it.

I have a spash roo that will be 1 year old next month. The pullets with him will be the same age. They started laying about 4 months ago. The eggs are not fertile and I do not see him trying to do his husbandly duties. Do you think he's just a late bloomer? I got them from Brown Egg Blue...
I hatched a set of Red Sex Link eggs on 3/1. 13 of 15 hatched perfectly. Today, 3/3, I decided to get rid of the other 2. I cracked both eggs, 1 was not fertile and the other started bleeding. I felt the egg and it had a heart beat or movement. Well, I put some left over shells back on it...
Just thought I'd say hello. I live in Bogalusa, that's about 63 miles north of New Orleans for those who may have not heard. If you blink your eyes when driving thru, you'll miss it.
I raise Silkies, Delaware hens with a RIR roo, Bourbon Red turkeys, and Royal Palm turkeys. I also raise...
OK Here are my pics I took this afternoon. The first pic is a full body shot of the bird in question. The next pic shows the jake? on the left and the right is a jenny. I took also a closeup of head and feet.
Hi everyone. I recently purchased what suppose to be a young male Royal Palm turkey, 9 months old. True enough it has better markings than my 20 mth old hens; however, it has not gobbled once and the hens have chased and pecked at it. He has not strutted his feathers, etc. I'm thinking it...
I know about RIR roos crossed with Delaware hens to get red sex link. I've done it. However, would a Red Sussex Roo create the same sex link chick if mated with a Light Sussex Hen?
Does the roo have the needed genes to accomplish this?
Thanks
