    Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

Thank you for the info! Been doing more research and yes I think the grey gal will be pulled from breeding, and probably the cockerel too. He sure is handsome but those white legs are a turn off lol. (We aren't doing any "breeding" yet, just enjoying them and getting to know the breed, have much...

I just wanted some blue/ green eggs! PICS

Well wouldn't ya know! Guess who got their first mint GREEN egg today! Oh I was so happy I could just dance (ok I did a little). Not sure which it is but I'm sure the rest aren't far behind. And to think we have had below freezing temps here for the past week (which is why, as you can see, the...

    Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

Hmm I was thinking about calling them basque chickens. Do you have another suggestion? Lol. Yes she is very gray. And the more gold one is marraduna, correct? We will not hatch any of their offspring for a while, but it will be interesting when we do I appreciate the comments, do you think the...

Questions about fertile eggs, timing, shipping, etc

Thank you. We will probably not start incubating until at least next spring based on that info. The roo is just so handsome and I can't wait to see what his chicks look like. But the girls are young and the eggs are still small, but they are consistently laying at least every other day even...

I just wanted some blue/ green eggs! PICS

Thank you...we do not have a heat lamp in the coop. It's 20 degrees here but there are 12 chickens comfortably in the coop and they are doing fine. We would certainly NEVER put a space heater in there, yikes! Our coop is made of quality wood and cedar so we are not worried about them freezing...

I wanted to post some updated pics of my breeding trio. Our roo is enormous! His tail feathers are coming in beautifully! Both gals are now laying as of yesterday.

Questions about fertile eggs, timing, shipping, etc

Guess what!! We got our first (most likely) fertile egg 2 days and then another today. They're very small as I know first eggs usually are. How long is a good bet until incubating? A week? A month? Want to give these chicks the best chance at survival!

I just wanted some blue/ green eggs! PICS

She should be a perfect spring layer if born in July! Yes I love the blue feathers on the one...I'm wondering if she could be considered lavender?? I've always wanted a lavender "something"! Haha

    Greetings from Idaho

Thanks all! Since joining the forum I have learned I have 3 EE (not ameraucanas) and a black sex-link' (not australorp) (she is one of our best layers!) BUT we just got 6 more young australorp yesterday. We now have 24 chickens. Spring is going to bring an over abundance of eggs which we will...

    Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

Hi! I'm new to the EO world, but already realize the specialty of this breed and its wonderful characteristics. Here's what happened...was just looking for some more chickens to add to our flock and came across a breeding trio of EO. The poster said she had gotten and hatched them from greenfire...

I just wanted some blue/ green eggs! PICS

I really appreciate all the replies. These girls are the friendliest, most inquisitive birds. They follow my toddler daughter around like she is the chicken whisperer! They hop the fence to be with her. I can't wait to see their eggs. I will be sure to update the post when I get my first colored...

I just wanted some blue/ green eggs! PICS

We don't use a light either. We did last year but decided just to let nature do its thing this year. Although, we will probably put a heat lamp in there this weekend because we are supposed to have single digits soon. I shall wait patiently for my hopefully blue/green eggs! Thanks everyone for...

I just wanted some blue/ green eggs! PICS

Bought these as Ameraucanas. I've read conflicting information on breed characteristics (although I know EE is not a "breed") I wanted to get some opinions. Btw, they were born in may and are not laying yet! I keep telling myself "any day now..." But no colored eggs in the box. They also seem to...

Questions about fertile eggs, timing, shipping, etc

Yep total newbie question here. A little backstory: we stumbled upon a breeding trio of euskal oiloa a few months ago. We had never had a roo before, but he is very sweet and so are his 2 gals. We would really like to capitalize on this breed. They are so beautiful! We ordered 5 straight run...

    Greetings from Idaho

Hi! Been reading this forum for quite a while as we ventured into chickens over the past year, but just joined as a member. We started out with 5 last year and needless to say our flock has expanded into 18 and hopefully more soon! We are now getting serious about breeding and selling one breed...
