Thank you for the response. I have never seen mud do that and it was most worrisome. Tending to little Ruby with as much time as it takes to get the caked on mud & sores gone. He is on the back porch in a crate lined with deep shavings for comfort. Not happy, but thankfully ok. Thanks again.
I have looked and looked and can find nothing about this condition & have had banty cochins for years. Embarrassed and feeling negligent in posting
this pic, but these are the "stones" with feathers embedded that I cut off my four-year old roo's feet tonight, after noticing the other day that...
Hi,
I have been searching for some answers for a little banty roo who has become ill, depressed, or both. Starbuck is about 18 months old, and has lived his entire life with a cochin roo and 14 hens of various breeds. He has always been vocal and quite the studly one, but the last few days, he...

Schnebbles, I'm a newbie here and also struggling with Merek's and my only silkie, Frizzle. I thought she was halfway to heaven yesterday, but this morning she popped up and squawked for grub. She drank a quarter cup of water with meds in it and ate some crumble. I'm giving her st. john's wart...
Thanks Seminolewind. And someone else also replied - having a bit of challenge getting around the forum. Appreciate the info and support. Nice to know you chicks are here.

I have a small multi-breed flock of 10 hens and two roos ranging in age from 6 to 7 months. In mid summer, one of the older hens became ill...
