I usually wait until almost day 21 then when it's dark 10:30/ 11 olock i put vanilla on her beak and vanilla on the chick/s and slide it/them under her. ( 9 out of10 times she has accepted them.) Must be done in the dark, no light.

Last year I didn't have a rooster and I was able to break my hens 3rd brood by putting her in a wire dog kennel for a day and night. Now I am wondering have I ruined her ever going broody again? This year I have a rooster and would like some chicks. Hope this is the right forum.

The paper ones go in the garden between the plants then put manure and or compost on them . When you irrigate the nutrients feed your plants and make good soil for next year. The others I just use as trash bags.
