The temps are what I'm worried about just getting them from anyone. I would like to get them from people who know a thing or two about how to store hatching eggs. They don't need to be any specific color or breed or anything. In fact they would prefer different colors and breeds so that they...
Long time no talk! It's been forever since I've been on here and...I'm in a bind. My chickens slowed way down on laying bc of the heat and I'm supposed to have 6 dozen hatching eggs for the exhibit to hatch during the Washington county fair. I need them by Aug 3rd. Anyone have any extra fertile...
I don't know. I've only hatched twice before and had 100% hatch rate the first time out of my own flock and 100% hatch rate excluding the ones that never developed at all out of shipped eggs the second time. I'm at a loss. And really pretty depressed about it. :(
Out of the two that did hatch...
Thank you everyone for your help. Unfortunately when i candled I didn't see any movement in any of the eggs at all. Two had internally pipped but none of the others. What causes chicks not to pip internally?
P.s. They are still in the incubator but I doubt any are still alive at this point.
I recently discovered one of my white peahens was an egg eater...I filled filled eggs up with regular mustard and dishsoap than sat around and waited. It only took a couple pecks and I guess the taste was enough to stop it. She immediately ran away shaking her head. I left the eggs in their coop...
Oh how I would love to have some. :)
You live about three hours away though :(
You wouldn't be interested in shipping me some eggs or chicks would you?
Just so everyone knows I am going to order chicks from Murry McMurray hatchery this week. No later than Friday. I live just north of Nowata. If you would like to combine an order let me know. :) I'm already ordering the minimum so no worries there.
I wasn't really taking a picture of the pen in this photo but it's all I have on hand. 16' by 16' square north side and top tinned and half way down each side with a roost built towards the back. The plan is to add a run to each pen so they will measure 16 wide by 40 long. Well the 24' runs...
Wow your quick!!
I am absolutely sure she is broody. We moved chicks out to the coop on Monday and I have two hens that have lost it. lol
They are gamebird and are pretty much broody all the time. She has been sitting on 3 golf balls for almost three weeks now.
I just didn't know if going...
Ok, this is random I know, but will the amount of space that peafowl have effect breeding?
I have a trio in a 16' by 16' pen and lets just say the runs never got built like they were supposed too.
Will they still be able to breed? Or should I spend this whole weekend building runs? **I know...
Random Question.
I put 6 eggs in my incubator on Sunday. They are just barnyard mix eggs as I didn't have a full incubator and wanted to fill it up. I have a hen that's gone broody. Would it hurt anything if I took those eggs out and set them under my hen?
Any and all opinions appreciated. :)
