One of my hens is having feather loss on her back near her tail feathers. She seems to preen more than the others. I have used the recommended sprays, tried anti fungal cream and the blue chicken cream in a jar. No results from anything. :( I was hoping for a reply to your question that would...
Her foot. They both look alike. The back of the legs look fine. I've done Dawn with a tooth brush, spray oil,. Vaseline several times. Help is welcome!
Have used all treatments you mentioned and then some! I will try to post a photo today. Her legs look very scaly, I did not know it could just be age. Thank you
Been trying to reply.....BYC acting up. Anyway, girl is 6 years old this Sept. I've done the Dawn soak, the oil soak and the tooth brush scrub and the Vaseline. Will post a pic as soon as I can.! thanks!
Thank you! Quite shocking to learn this!:eek:I had no idea about Teflon being that toxic to chickens. I have not used it in years and only use cast iron and once in awhile stainless for cooking. Think I will exchange the spray for a pump type as suggested above.
Very helpful thank you! Can you tell me when you can tell the leg mites are gone/ better? I've done the Vaseline at least 4 times and my BO's legs still look scaly on the front,:(
...which is where the problem is....They do look pretty healthy on the back though and her feet.

Please advise. My girl has one nostril that runs a bit. It gets clogged over when she feeds. I rinsed it out with saline twice and one time a piece of straw came out. It doesn't look bad, it's clear. She is not sneezing or coughing, lays eggs is energetic, and acts normal. Baffled and really...
Back story. 7 month old blue splash Amerauca. Was laying about every other day. Escaped about 10 days ago and a neighbor had to get her out of the road and put her back on my property. She laid a normal egg late that night about 10 days ago. Then no eggs or nesting till today. Then she laid a...
It is not unheard of to wait 16 weeks before being able to determine sex on an Ameraucana… I have 3 hens now that are about 6 month old. One is much larger than the others and one is pretty small and lays smaller eggs as well. Wish I could be more helpful.
