I'm sure the bees will find something somewhere:) I've been beekeeping for just over ten years now. Just a small scale hobby. The most hives I've manned was seven, and that was too much work for the small extractor I have! Then my wife and I started having kids, and goats, and breeding our...

Sounds good. If you're still interested in spring let me know and I'll keep a couple for you. I changed the picture they had for me here. That's our rooster before he got frostbite. Do you have bees too? Your name is "buzzesandclucks" so I'm just guessing here. If you do, how's that making out...

Hey there, I raise and hatch barred rocks. I've tried a few breeds, but love these birds. They're cold hardy, lay good size eggs all year, very well tempered (My toddler chases the rooster around the yard), and are attractive. I used to live in West St. Paul and it wasn't until I brought a...

Hi there, I would contact Susan who organizes the Cluck and Quack show in Beausejour. If you ever have chantecler chicks, I would be very interested in buying some:) She has different breeds but not chantecler. She may have a contact though. Here's how I reached her a few years ago: 204 268...

Sorry about that. My computer cable cacked on me and I just got one in from work:) Right now I'm keeping this clutch, but if they sit on another you're welcome to them for $5/chick. Or you can have some fertilized eggs if you have an incubator, for $1/egg.

Well, if you're ever interested, we often have a barred rock clutch brooding under a silkie. I bought my breeding pair from a woman in Beausejour a few years ago. Now I have 8 laying hens. Ive thought about getting some plain jane white leg horns simply for their superior egg production. We'll see.

I have barred rock and some silkies for incubators:) There's also two unintended cross breed barred rock/ silkies. I love the look of the Barred rock, they are good layers, cold hardy and dual purpose. What breed were you looking to get?

That's great then! That's what we did when we moved out here a couple years ago. The ducks were under a wood box and the chickens were in a "coop" I made out of scrap wood I found in the bush. I free range too. It brings the cost of feed way down as they can find all they need. Unfortunately...

Unfortunately, keeping chickens is expensive. You put in more money than you pull out, even if you sell the eggs, you have to count the cost of the coop, food, electrical, heating, meds (if you go that far) and all the other blah blah blahs. I kept chickens when I lived in West St. Paul. When I...
