My Rabbits Need a Loving Home

Thank you for the responses! I wasn't sure if I would hear anything. We are in Gilbertsville, PA near Boyertown. Ams3651, I am really concerned about a good home for my "condo" bunnies - Nate - neutered male french lop (black and white) 2 years old, Cher - female (obviously) 3 years old...

My Rabbits Need a Loving Home

Hello! It's a long story but we found out rather unexpectedly that we need to move. We attempted to find a house with enough land to keep all of our animals, but it looks as if we will be moving into a less rural more residential area. To make a long story short, our neighbor across the...

    What DONT your chickens like

Quote: Well I kinda agree with them on that one! LOL!! I know!! I burned the whole batch and had to throw out the pot. It was a long shot, but I don't have a garbage disposal.

    need great pyr advice

We just got a Great Pyrenees at 4 months also. We only have him out with our chickens and turkeys when we are out with him. I've read that they aren't really ready to guard the livestock until they are 18 months. He's off the leash with us and will occasionally run at the chickens and watch...

    HELP! DOG ATTACKED AGAIN!!

Electric fences are 100 to 200 dollars..just a suggestion. I don't know a lot about them but they are cheaper than getting a real fence and I hear they work for most dogs. Maybe she will consider it.

Feline Urinary Tract Infection ****PICTURE OF SMOKEY ADDED ****

My cat had a UTI a few years back. After our $400 vet bill we found out that if you give the cat crystallized vitamin C it breaks up the blockage. So, we gave him better quality food and put a teaspoon of vitamin C in with raw ground turkey as a treat. Now, any time I suspect another UTI...

What kind of dog do you have?

Quote: We have a Great Pyrenees too. We got him specifically to keep predators away. Just his scent seems to be doing the trick. We love him too...best dog I've ever had.

    Thinking about getting turkeys

MotherHenandFlock, we do have live traps and we set it in front of the pen the night before last but didn't catch anything. I appreciate your concern! Cheri - I hope you enjoy your turkeys in whatever capacity that is!!

    Thinking about getting turkeys

Thanks for the kind words and the beautiful pictures! I can't wait until mine get older and look like that. This hasn't been such a great week...too many predators. When I got home from work last night, I looked in on the turkeys and I saw a new hole in the wall of the shed. I told my DH...

    Cute Story!

I haven't been real attached to my chickens because of an overabundance of roosters and the pain of losing them to predators. We recently got rid of 2 of our roosters (gave them to a neighbor) and things have been calmer lately. We had friends stop by on Sunday and we were sitting in kind of a...

    Thinking about getting turkeys

I remember someone wrote in and was told how to edit UPDATE on their topic but I can't find it. I just wanted to share that my husband spent a fair amount of time converting half of our old shed into a turkey pen for the four young turkeys. There are 2 vents in the shed so we figured that...

    Curious about Peafowl

We have a blue pied male, a white male and 1 female. The female is in a pen with the blue pied and the white male is in a pen next to them. We would have liked to let them free range, but we tried that...we were told to keep the female penned and let the males out and they would stay around...

Trapping a Raccoon - Baiting / Setting The Trap

We use leftover salad with dressing on it. I think they'll eat just about anything though. We had a mother raccoon that would climb part of the way in and hold up the door so her babies could go in and eat. We discovered what was happening when she didn't quite make it out and one of her...

*update PICS!* At least one has hatched!!!

Mine started out sitting on about 8 eggs, day 21 was somewhere in the first week of June (we were away when she started sitting on her eggs) - 2 hatched (1 of the 2 died not sure if the mother hen stepped on her or what but she was kind of crushed underneath her), 4 were hatched with the yokes...

What to do with an unsupportive husband... chicken tractor plans

My husband likes the chickens because they eat bugs..especially the mosquitos. He was a harder sell when I wanted bunnies, but now we have 15 and he loves them all as much if not more than I do. When we lost the bunny he originally didn't want to get, he was really sad. He had become very...

    Crying, crying, crying...

We just gave two of our roosters to our neighbor across the street. It is sad to have to give them away, but they were causing chaos..fighting, chasing the hens under our cars. It was bad. It's more peaceful now. Buff Hooligans is right, the chicken world can be pretty brutal. I had to stop...
