Thank you all. We got a cool change overnight, so cooler this week. Still hot but not high 40s C. The girls all survived. I bought a soaker hose today for the next round of heat when it comes. Now we're just dealing with bush fires!
We're fine right now but my heart is so broken for friends.
Thanks all. Its hotter than expected, hit 45C yesterday, 46C today and higher than expected 47C tomorrow. They are doing ok in dirt holes they dug under their favourite bush with the sprinkler on low all day. Their dirt holes are wet, I think that's helping. They are still puffing like crazy but...
Hi all.
We are sweltering through a heatwave this week in South Australia. It's the coolest day this week today - currently 40.8C/104.5F here at 2pm, so will go up a few degrees celcius before the day is out. Due to hit 46/114.8F on Friday. We had a couple of days like this last year and we...
Thanks Ted. We're warming up here. In for a long, hot, dry summer I'm guessing (had some 113/114 degrees F temps last summer). Was 99 degrees F yesterday, bit cooler today. ☀
They are pooping machines!! Crazy little things, always flapping and running around!
We have big ones in the yard too, they are much loved and spoilt pets! Mr 2 is besotted with them, carries them around and they love it, follow him to get cuddles. Haha!
Hi all.
My three boys recently incubated/hatched these three - we were told they are Easter Eggers, does their colourings fit with this?
They are still very young. I've done alot of reading around genders and I've had suspicions on them. We can't keep roos in our area, so they'll go to a...
Hi all,
We're over in sunny Adelaide here - where it is over 104 degrees (over 40 degrees celcius) for the next 4 days!! It was just over 100 (38 degrees celcius) yesterday too. This is CRAZY weather for this time of year.
I have my dogs and birds inside and usually manage the heat with my...
Hi all!
Just checking in to say they are all going really well. They are HUGE already and have been spending their day times (in the last few days) in a sectioned off part of our chook run - we are in Australia, it is hot!
Egg One: Peppa
Egg Two: George
Egg Three: Rebecca...
Thanks again guys! The two assisted hatches fluffed up in the bator overnight and are busy, busy, busy this morning! ALL five are out and busy!
Peppa (Egg 1)
George (Egg 2)
Rebecca (Egg 4)
Suzie (Egg 3)
Danny (Egg 5)
All together!
Thank you so much to all who have helped on this hatch! I really appreciate it!
I'll post a photo of Egg 3 and Egg 5 once the ducklings have fluffed up and are ready for the brooder.
These are the earlier three:
They quite obviously think my son - Caleb - is their Mummy!! Very cute!
She's out!
Although she's probably thinking she wished she stayed inside, with all the screaming and carrying-on that's happening here with our Mr 12 months old today! Jeeepers!
