Well, the little one made it (the one on the left) and although he seems a little different with his walking (legs not extended as much) he is awfully cute and a complete ball of fur! My other one tries to help feed and water him. A new addition just arrived as well last night and joined them...
I'm afraid to reduce humidity too much because of other eggs pipping...what do I do about drying this one out? I feel a little dumb asking all these questions but I'm a nervousness wreck...lol
Thank you all so much for the advice! He is still in the incubator resting. When should I move him to the brooder? And I have a 5 day old baby in there already as well as a floppy stuffed bunny for them to cuddle with. Will he be ok with the other chick or should I place him in a small box...
7:27am - he has moved himself out of the egg and looks as if most of sac has been absorbed. we are both exhausted...hahaha...I'm leaving him alone and hopefully he will get stronger as the day goes. Praying he does ok!
This is our progress as of 6:30am. He was still stuck at this time but the membrane was a lot better looking, I peeled it back where he appeared to be stuck and his head and wings gently rolled out. He appears exhausted and I left the lower part of the membrane in case the sac hasn't absorbed...
I decided to place him back in the incubator in hopes he can try and make it with a little more time. His membrane was just too wet to help him any further. These pics were taken at 12am and I'm hoping he will advance further by tomorrow morning.
In the pic I posted you can see his beak and he's breathing a little hard...stressed I imagine but it looks like the sac may be right there as well the other end is his body, almost like he is curled up. The membrane still has a mucous substance adhered to it unlike my last hatch where it was...
This is the most recent pic at 9:40pm. Anybody have suggestions as to whether I should continue bases on pic. He can't get out in the position he's in.
This is what it looks like upon opening where his beak is. There is no blood but fleshy looking, looks like he's turned around, maybe hasn't absorbed everything. I'm frustrated because I'm so new to this I can't tell what's good or bad at this point. I know he can't get out the way it's...
Yes...there are 2 other eggs in there at this time but not due to hatch until another 1-2 days. I only have the other incubator with egg turner in it and many more eggs...should I temporarily place the 2 others gently into it until I can get this one helped along? I'm a nervous wreck...lol
This is my second viable duck and I'm worried. I noticed Saturday morning that it had pipped in the egg turner so I moved it to the still incubator.. It pipped through the membrane yesterday a little and stopped. It has been very vocal until this afternoon and I removed some shell around the...
