I've got 9 chicks we purchased this past Monday from TSC and found out a couple days ago we have to go out of town at least overnight, possibly two nights around March 11th. The trip can't be avoided as it's a dr appointment for my daughter and it's about 7 hours away in Philadelphia. What is...
Thanks for the input! I'd be happy with an Orpington, but it didn't appear as though they were labeling what they had left as being orpingtons. All of the yellow ones look pretty similar, so they may all be the same breed. I've never raised chicks before, so it's all well over my head right now.
Any takers on guessing what I've got? These came from TSC less than a week ago. I've got 9 altogether since losing one on day two. Five are dark and four are yellow. Their feathers appear to be white.
Kind of a strange discussion for a chicken forum, but just wanted to state for information's sake that "Failure To Thrive" isn't inherently synonymous with evil dictators or parents who don't want or love their children. My daughter was diagnosed failure to thrive and, rest assured, she's seen...
No, the boy who gathered them for us was just a kid who worked there (so, clueless about chickens). We didn't have a breed preference and he didn't seem willing to chase after any specific chick. They had two bins of sexed chicks. One had a card that said "pullets" and several breeds and the...
I'm wondering if I can get an idea for what kind of chicks I got. We bought from TSC and pulled out 5 pullets and 5 red pullets. The red pullets are all yellow and I'm wondering if they may be white leghorns. It was slim pickins by the time we were able to get there. There were no brown chicks...
Thanks do much for the reply. I just washed her up and gave her a bit more egg and sugar water. She was a little more combative (which I'm counting as a good thing). I want to try a mash with her starter feed, yogurt, and apple cider vinegar tomorrow. Researching a little more, I'm wondering if...
My family and I brought home some chicks last night. It's our first time caring for chicks, so I've been pretty nervous, but they've all been doing well until a few hours ago when I noticed one pretty zonked out in the feeder. I knew baby chicks would sleep a lot and in weird positions, so I...
I'm a first time chick mama and my son and I just named ours today. I picked a floral theme, which the boy was none too happy about, but he did come up with some dandies, nonetheless. We have Rosey, Flora, Tulip, Dandelion, Honeysuckle, Dahlia, Sasparilla/Sassy, Amaryllis/Amy, Clover, & Leilani...
