Bad case of worms and my hens quit laying

I just wanted to thank-you again for your encouragement. My Wyandotte's are beginning to lay again and my Brabanter's are looking great. The Bra's still haven't begun laying but, judging from their activity, they likely will. So much to learn in life, so little time. Thank-You Very Much.

Bad case of worms and my hens quit laying

I'm pretty sure that my birds are well fed. I feed in the morning and evening and the rest of the day they graze in my yard- it's 4 acres that are maintained and adjacent to a large hay meadow full of bugs, clover and other goodies. My landscaping is full of berries and other edibles I planted...

Bad case of worms and my hens quit laying

Just making sure that none go away hungry. I'm adding a few extra ounces per feeding (2X a day). I know I don't want them fat- just healthy.

Bad case of worms and my hens quit laying

I don't mind feeding them through the winter. I have such a terrible tick population out here- one of the main reasons I started keeping them (plus the fact that my 82 yo Mom wanted fresh eggs). Well- no ticks and no eggs. Not a perfect plan...

Bad case of worms and my hens quit laying

Thank-You. You're right- they were in pretty bad shape. It's good to see them running around the farm acting, well, like chickens. I'm glad that I won't have to begin again. I just love my Bra's and they were difficult to get! The Brabanters lay the tastiest eggs that my family and friends have...

Bad case of worms and my hens quit laying

Thank-You for the optimistic reply! My SLW's are 1&2 years old (I understand that the older girls have seen their best days for laying). My Brabanters are only 15 months old. I do have coop lights set with a timer. I'm also feeding them with a "heavy hand" to help them gain some weight.

deworming with rooster booster triple action multi wormer

I sure hope the information helps. It's rather difficult to get good answers to some questions... I just hope my hens will begin laying again! Good luck. As for the molting issue, I have two things you may wish to try. Sunflowers seeds really seem to help the birds through the molt and a product...

Bad case of worms and my hens quit laying

I could use some help. My flock (Cream Brabanters & SLW's) came down with a bad case of worms (I think). All of my hens have quit laying. I haven't seen an egg in months. It's my own fault- You see, my Dad became very ill and we've been at the hospital and visiting doctors a lot (he's doing...

deworming with rooster booster triple action multi wormer

Hello everyone- I just hung up the phone after a conversation with Durvet about their Strike lll wormer (November 13. 2015). Durvet realizes the labeling omission and will be changing the label to include the proper dosing protocol. Durvet stated that Strike lll wormer should be given for...

Arduino controlled coop door help requested

My friend, I appreciate your offer! This is a project that has proven "difficult"... Glad to have you aboard! I'll put my thoughts together for you- the more "heads" we have in this, the better. I have a lot of friends that do metal fabricating, so the door part should be a simple task that I...

Arduino controlled coop door help requested

Good Morning, TC- I could surely use some help. I hate to admit this- we're just a bunch of "dumb farmers" out here in West Virginia. I haven't been able to find one person in my area with any programming knowledge/experience or electronics. I am an Independent Pest Control Operator, carpenter...

Arduino controlled coop door help requested

Hi, chicken folks. Is there anyone out there BYC that could help with an Arduino project. Of course, it would be shared to all. I have an idea that would limit the ability of predators to open the door. My design incorporates a screw drive door. I'm have no knowledge of electronics or...

    FLIES!

In short, Yes. You'll need a soil Ph test kit. It will take a while and repeated testing to raise the Ph to neutral (7.0) or slightly higher.

    Is this a rat?

Hope this helps- Rats/Graduate Level- the Norway Rat (rattus rattus)- I guarantee this is YOUR rat. Boy, are you right. Rats are Amazing! The reason I have more success with the smaller trigger plate is that the bait (big hunk of smoked sausage/couple of hunks of slim jim) will disguise the...
