I took sky's advice and put something to reinforce the chicken wire all around the coop. I chose this white PVC fencing I got from Lowe's hardware store. It's user friendly won't rust or rot easy to clean and is pretty indestructible. A little pricy but I'm already over budget on the chicken...

my coop is 12× 24 with a 20×20 run on the back.

We have about 35 hens. They have a large run attached to the pen. We may free range them but for now they are happy.

I 30 eggs a day from 35 hens.

I used a large plastic water trough that cattle people use to water cows. Easy to clean high sides and pretty durable. Connect a heat lamp.and iIt's ready to go!!

I had game chickens many years ago as a young man. Now retirement has me thinking of getting another small...lol...flock of birds. Trouble is I rarely do anything fun in a small way. Just bought a new house with unlimited space for a coop. Any suggestions??
