    Impacted Crop?

Good morning. I am sorry your hen is so sick. My advice is to start a new thread since I seem to be the only one getting the emails on this one. Probably because I started it. There are much more knowledgable people on this forum than I that can probably help you as they did me. Good luck.

    Impacted Crop?

Welcome, you have come to the right place. I went through a crisis with my hen a week ago and the people here were very helpful. Is her crop full first thing in the morning? My hen was egg bound. This prevented her from pooping and so food could not move through her system. What I did was to...

    Impacted Crop?

Good morning! Olive is feeling much better! She ate her feed with organic blueberries on top and drank lots of water this morning. Still a little weak so she is not standing a lot but her tail is up and she is perky. You all saved her life yesterday and I can't thank you enough. I will keep you...

Good morning everyone! Olive is doing well. Last night she bit me twice while I was giving her food and this morning she chugged water and had some of her food with organic blueberries on top. Still a little wobbly but her tail is up and she is on the mend thanks to all of you. You are amazing!

    Impacted Crop?

Thank you! They go through lots of oyster shell and I give them fresh clean water every day. It is so cold here that the water would freeze overnight so I dump it and bring the watered in then refill it in the AM with nice warm water. This hen hatched last fall, has laid about 5 eggs and is...

    Impacted Crop?

I crushed the tums and mixed some with water then gave it to her with the dropper. I will let her sit for a bit then try the warm bath. ;)

    Impacted Crop?

She stopped panting as soon as she pooped. A friend is bringing some tums over in 5 minutes. I can't tell you how much I appreciate everyone's help in saving my hen. This is an amazing site. Thank you.

    Impacted Crop?

Ok, I did what you said and there is an egg stuck. She also was able to poop, a lot, when I inserted my finger and moved things around. I tried to get lube into her using my finger and moving it around the egg. I used astroglide. Would it be ok to use a syringe to insert some into her vent? I...

Hi, I am a new member from Westchester NY

Her crop was full and hard first thing this AM at 7. I think she may be panting because she is used to being outside where it has been really cold all winter and she is in the house now where it is 60. She is moving around a bit now. The legs are at least staying under her. I noticed your name...

No injuries. She hasn't pooped. Still panting. Eating a little cooked egg and drinking when I give her water in a dropper. Thank you.

    Impacted Crop?

Hi, it just started this morning. When I went out to let the chickens out I found her on the floor of the coop. I checked and she doesn't seem to be egg bound. It is cold here. Her crop was very big and hard and her legs don't work, she can't stand up. Her crop is soft now after hours of eye...

    Impacted Crop?

She was in an enclosure with 17 other chickens. I doubt she got into anything toxic but it is a big enclosure and she could have. She has not been vaccinated so it could be Mareks. Why is it always the favorite one! I am off to get epsom salts and dolcolax.

Hi, I am a new member from Westchester NY

Thank you for your detailed help. I will continue with the treatment you recommend. Hopefully it is not Mareks. I will keep you posted.

Hi, I am a new member from Westchester NY

This morning when I found her the crop was very hard and big. I had her on my lap for hours and gave her water with an eyedropper and massaged the crop gently the whole time. Now, the crop is very soft and liquid and she is in a crate resting. She can not stand. Her legs are held backward and...
