Hi chicken lovers.
I'm new to roosters and thought I had the best rooster ever.....until this past weekend. He was born around March of this year and started crowing in the summer, which was hilarious at first. He would crow around 10:00 no earlier, which was fine by me. Now he's crowing at...
I figured I'd update. Sunny was away from the others and healed back to normal, took about a month though. Once the weather started getting nicer and the area around the coop started melting and grass showing. We let all the hens out and added Sunny. She has been back with the others for...
Since there are only four hens left, they have plenty of room with two high perch areas and one low and three laying cubbies. We've been introducing her and everytime the rest go straight for her head a peck away. She's healing, but she's so defenseless. I'm still learning. I just don't want...
This is my first winter with my hens. I had six and down to four because of wildlife. I never really knew who the dominant hen was because they all got along wonderfully...until now. Sweetie (whose not so sweet now) was pecking at everyone's butt until they became bear. Didn't notice right...
It ended up that the chicken in question ate alot....and I mean alot, of whirly birds that were flying around. My husband told me that after I posted all this. He said he even warned her. I guess she just ate too much. It's been over a month and it only lasted that one day.But she just...
I was constantly watching her. The other girls didn't want to leave her side. They looked almost concerned for her. She's the biggest bird in my flock, but I purchased them all at the same time. And, funny you should ask, yes....she is squatting. I thought she might be constipated..lol...
Yes. I added the little waterer when they were babies into the coop. I hope that it's just BC she wants to lay and not the worst. I don't see any puffiness. When her eyes r open they don't look glossy. And she's been listless just today. My son noticed it when he went to look at them around lunch.
Thank you. My son put them out to roam just now and she followed the others but stopped and stayed under the coop. She's been resting all day. I really hope she is trying to lay. Yes, that would be exciting.
I have six pullets. 3 barred rocks and 3 I think orbingtons. I got them on 3/16 and it's now 6/2. Not truly sure how many weeks they are, but did get them as chicks. They all care about each other and seem genuinely concerned when one isn't with the flock or wandered off. We let them roam...

We just got these beautiful chicks this weekend. I'm new to the wonderful world of chickens. So I'm not sure of they're breed. Any help would be great. [/IMG]
Hello everyone. I've always wanted to own chickens, but at the beginning I had a home with a beautiful garden. I read that chickens would destroy it. So I gave up on the idea. We moved to the country which was once a farm. We have a blank slate with landscaping (literally) and I'm working...
