Thank you Wyorp Rock.
Yes, I have looked at both of those sites, thanks for the link though. I am not quite sure how the heck I could make a chicken sling that would allow the chicken to successfully lay an egg through it (I am at work during the day).
Its weird because she does not prolapse...
Our 7 month old Speckled Sussex has a prolapse. She is a very sweet and loving girl who has enjoyed every moment of the special attention of the treatment. We purposely didn't name our chickens in case hard decisions came up, but during treatment, our bond with this chicken is now at pet level...
Thank you for this thread! I googled "Chicken Vet Richmond VA" and this was the first link to pop up! And many thanks to those who updated it.
Like everyone else, I'm looking to bring a baby chick by a vet for cheap advice (I don't want the chick to die of something silly, but I don't want to...
Good Afternoon All,
I'm using fender washers to screw down the hardware cloth. The hardware store sells zinc-plated and stainless steel fender washers, with the cost difference being extreme (and thats an understatement).
My question to you all is, in your experience, does the zinc-plated...
@legs13,
Now that is what I envisioned! The execution is what I have questions with. Maybe some closeups will help in the discussion (if my phone will quit crappin out on me! I hate to admit my iPhone worked better than this android, but maybe its the cheap phone plan, lol).
I attempted that...
I'm probably going to have to chat with someone at Ace Hardware about this glue situation. But the more I think about it, if I glue directly to the frame on the outside with the window open I could use clamps. The wood would be less than an inch wide though, sigh...
@legs13,
I'm going to close the windows on raany days. They will still have ventilation on the side that opens to the run under the shell.
Not sure what you mean by the one inch aliminum tubing... Let me go to pics
At this point, I'm thinking about gluing a frame around the outside of the window, and just attaching it to that. No it won't be as smooth and pretty, but maybe if I paint it then it'll be okay?
My other issue I have to brainstorm, I only need the hardware cloth on half the window (the other half is always closed). I don't want the rough edge to be exposed, and its not like I can just nicely drill some wood across the window... Its raised on the inside making things very difficult, even...
Thanks Bonrae! I'm going to see if its possible to glue on the inside vs outside to keep things looking nice. I will certainly post pics once I actually get started on this thing. Right now I'm just prepping the shell and digging out the massive pile of dirt where the coop will go. So there...
Good Afternoon Backyard Chickens!!
I am in the process of starting coop design. I procured a camper shell --- no leaks and everything functions! I've draw up plans for how to make the shell the roof of my coop and run and I think it will work just fine. I decided to put hardware cloth over the...
Twisted Feathers:
And with that small of a coop (and I'm assuming between 3-6 chickens?) the deep litter has been working well enough? Or do you have to turn it for them because they aren't inside enough to make it effective? Poop board or not?
Does your coop have a dirt floor or a raised floor?
I have 4 chickens in an urban environment and trying to figure out coop design. I'm advocating for deep litter on a dirt floor, while the hubby-to-be wants a raised floor.
With the chickens always have access to the run, are they scratching...
